So I'm always completely impressed by the level of knowledge Jalops have and are willing to share, so I would like to pose a question.

I want a Volvo (Much)Wagon that won't cost me limbs in maintenance and I'll be able to give it to my sons in 13 years who will think its the coolest thing ever, because I'm raising them to love Wagons. I hear some run forever, and some do not. Which do I want?

About me: 2 kids and a wife and a medium to large sized dog on the way. I don't drive much but when I do, it is either a 2 mile or 200 mile day. I'm a train commuter an average of 4 days a week.

I like winter sports in Upstate NY and New England, and I live in North Jersey where it seems to get snowier every year. Yes, yes, RWD with snow tires... fine. But AWD is good too.

Speed, especially with the kidlets in the car isn't my thing. If it can merge onto the Parkway/Turnpike and cruise at 75 I'm super happy. I drove a 93 YJ Sport for awhile (100k miles), and while yes it could move snappily and make an impressive noise, it also taught me the joys of driving slowly. Also - everything feels like an overstuffed Ethan Allen couch by comparison. Leather heated seats are (so) nice... but I usually only use the heat in the car if the windshield is iced.

Currently driving one baller of a white + scratched and scraped 2005 Ford Focus ZXW - That W is for Wagon if you aren't up on your mid 00's Ford nomenclature. This also speaks to my financial situation, and wanting something that won't cost me a ton to own.

So what is it Opponauts? What's my Volvo sweet spot?

Sorry for just stumbling here!

Kinja'd!!!

You can’t really go wrong with the 740/940.. bonus if its a turbo because of those wheels!

Last of the RWD easy to work on solid Volvos. 740 turbo is up top and a 940 turbo below
