No matter how much I try to look at something else to replace the Safari, I always end coming back to these while looking on Craigslist. And I haven't the slightest clue why.
They're not powerful, they aren't big, the interior is almost 100% plastic. But there's just something about these little trucks that I love over nearly everything else and I can't put my finger on it. It's not even because it's a Chevy.
The best I can come up with is because they're honest little do it all trucks that are better looking and slightly more fuel efficient than their full size brothers. And their small size makes me feel like less of an ass while driving alone; because for some reason when I'm alone in my Safari I feel so wasteful. They have 4-wheel-drive for winter unlike some my other options (namely BMW 3 and 5 series or W-Bodies.) And I can get one in basically brand new condition for $5k or less.
These aren't perfect, far from it honestly, but they seem to fit my hypothetical want list better than anything else.

Get one! 2 door Zr2 would be cool.

They're pretty decent overall. My dad had a 2000, and one of my good buddies has a 2002 S10 crew cab, which is pretty much the same vehicle from the bed forward. They're not bad vehicles at all.

It's crash test scares me.
Then again you drive a Safari, so this may actually be better.

Though I almost want a 4-door because slightly better practicality.

It doesn't fold in half like the Safari. So yes, better.

I have one they are great little trucks. Mind you I have a 2000 S10 so it is a little different. Honest little truck and a satisfying amount of torque. Gets windy over 70mph. More of a back road truck than a highway cruiser

It is scary how it folds upwards.

There ya go! Plus there isn't a bro kit, which the majority of those seem to have.

Was going to say the same things as you posted.
They aren't all that nice, but they get the job done. Plus they sold so many you'll basically trip over parts everywhere you look.
I do worry about them rolling easily though.

As long as I don't get blown all over the highway like I do in the Safari, I can live with a little wind noise.

When I was still driving the YJ, I wanted a 2-door version of this (or GMC Jimmy) the kind with the swingout spare tire carrier but all the ones within my area were badly rusted

Because S10s and their wagon bodied brothers are AMAZING! A good balance of car and truck.

It's because they're good. That's why they're drawing you in.

Theres nothing wrong on liking them! My girlfriend had one when she was about 8 years old, so every Blazer post you make reminds me of it. I say its pretty much the perfect truck for you.
OR
If you get lucky, a 1st Gen Escalade.
(My girlfriends Blazer looked like this)

The amount of these you still see even though production ended something like 10 years ago is shocking. But like you said they did sell a ton of them.
It's less top heavy than my Safari is, and that hasn't ended up on its roof... yet.

I hear the Bravada has a slightly better interior.
![]() 11/13/2014 at 20:44 |

Do it. Then you can be all fancy and rebadge it as an Opel.

These a lack of first gen Escalades rolling around that are clean and cheap. So Blazer is probably a safer, and more fuel efficient, bet.

From what I've seen, it's almost the same except the Bravada has a different radio and leather seats. It does have full-time AWD though.

I had a friend with a 2 door. I don't really remember much about it though. She didn't seem to have it for very long.
Looks like you need to get one and do a LS swap

Wut.
Wait.. these were actually a thing! That's so cool.

BLAZAH!

Nah, the 4.3 should be livable in these. Not only are the lighter than my Safari, but they have a more powerful version of the 4.3.

All the interior pictures of Blazers I've looked at and I just not noticed the center stack is aimed at the driver, BMW style.

I just like when little trucks have absurd engines.

IT IS
Also, 4 spoke steering wheel.
I mean, the Porsche 959 had a 4 spoke steering wheel as well. Coincidence?

Logan, I just went to my national used car website finder.
There were only 5 Blazers in all the country. But in those 5 Blazers I found this
1993
5 Speed Manual
37,000 Miles
$5,800 Dollars.
ITS IMMACULATE

Brb, flying to Mexico.
Only 5 in the whole country!? There's over 20 just in my region!

I was just as startled for both things.

Haha, the styling crease goes right through the door handle and bends it
