So, this happened over a year ago...and the image of this vehicle was released almost a year ago. But, as far as I can tell the case is still cold and I couldn't find any later news stories identifying the vehicle. It sounds from this story like police weren't sure what the car was.
This was a truly horrible murder of a kid who had just graduated college. The suspects rear-ended him and then shot him dead when he approached.

Could that picture be any smaller and grainier?
I'm going with an Altima, 2005ish.
Mainly because there isn't any red coloration on the rear corner, and the Altimas of that vintage had the "Altezza" style tails from the factory.

S60, S80 ... ish? Difficult to imagine an armed Volvo driver, however.

The trouble with ID'ing cars, especially on FP is that a bunch of rather uniformed people will throw wild guesses out there which IMO just slow the process down by giving more options.
Like if this was FP, somebody would say "Chevy Equinox, note the roof line."

Ford Fusion? Hard to tell, but lamp height/depth & window profile looks similar.

That was my first thought too, but the rear window profile isn't right.
