(have a random Evo X from the inter webs)
So I am really leaning towards getting an Evo X/Ralliart when it comes time to buy my next daily driver. Of course I will probably mod it a little.
But I am also thinking about buying a turbocharged 5th gen Mirage coupe. 1.8 with aftermarket turbo set up, manual trans, but FWD. I am sure it would be fun to drive. But I would have an AWD beast sitting next to it in the garage.
Should I pass on the FWD toy car, and just stick with the AWD daily for now?
What are your thoughts?

Seems like the toy car is too similar to the DD and not as good.

I would rather have a FWD commuter and an AWD turbo toy.

I may end up with two AWD cars. One for daily (Evo X), one to beat on (Evo IV).

I recommend against it, Mitsubishi has terrible build quality and their dealers maintenance departments suck.
/CSB follows
I bought my Evo back in 2011, after a few months one of my driving lights went out, not a big deal went out and got a new bulb and replaced it. After a few days it went out again, so I made an appointment to get the (clearly) wiring issue fixed. I explained what happened and that I already replaced the bulb and they immediately gave me a hard time, saying that I would have to pay $80 if it was the bulb. I rudely told them that it was the wiring and gave them the keys. It ending up being the wiring and it worked for all of a week, then the other one went out so I said f'it. I traded the car in at 50k miles and all the window seals were bad (falling out) and the paint was chipping off the front. You shouldn't have to deal with these issues on a $40k car.

I'd actually argue new/slightly used WRX as a daily and a RWD fun car (Miata/S2000).
Save just a bit on gas while having car that won't depreciate very much (WRX resale is ridiculous) and have a classic RWD sports car as the fun toy.

Not worried about resolve value much. The current car I am driving is 18 years old. My next car I will drive for 20+ years.
And I am not a huge fan of how the WRX looks.
I have also thought about going with the Evo X then getting something RWD for fun. It would be great to just get in and drive around every now and then.

FWD fun car, lol. That is an oxymoron if ever I saw one.
