This is from my local radio station. They frequently get bands of all sorts of music styles to come in and play a few songs in studio. The recording quality is pretty good, too.

You're very welcome! I agree, Nas, Geto Boys, and Kendrick are great. But for me, classic hip-hop really means golden-age of hip-hop, which excludes Nas. And Kendrick is really really recent. I don't know the song "Mathematics" by Nas, but I do like Mos Def's:

I'll have to agree with what you said. Classic is definitely a chronicologically limited range. But I love the use of emerging sound techniques mixed with classic beat/vinyl patterns + rappers who can actually rap. SIT DOWN, Young Money.

I'm glad there are others on Oppo who are knowledgeable about and most importantly appreciate hip-hop. I'm actually taking a class in college right now called "Hip-Hop as Poetry and Social Currency". It's funny that you mentioned Kendrick because I just finished writing a paper on the prompt of analyzing Kendrick Lamar's Good Kid, MAAD City as a piece of literature/epic poetry.
