After 25 years of hardwork, and 10 after its launch, the Philae, Rosetta's Lander, finally landed a few minutes ago on the 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko comet.
A huge congratulations to all the women and men involved in this mission.

Pretty amazing work. What a herculean effort to do this, especially considering they launched this 10 years ago!

And with Philae's thruster (to push her towards the comet's surface) not working.

Excellent point. Orbital mechanics is tough to calculate and can take a lot of time. The USAF had a major satellite's launcher fail to get it into the correct orbit. It took over a year to slowly make the orbital correction.
ESA clearly knows what they're doing.

I thought the thruster was just to hold it to the surface while it anchored
