I accidentally ran my Grand Cherokee's key and remote through the laundry. The remote still works!

My dad did that with one of my VW keys: it still fully functions!
I accidentally took the other remote into a pool (for like 5 minutes): it too still fully functions!
Volkswagen Quality I guess ;)

My Durango uses the same fob. They are quite durable.

My dad has done this multiple times. Around 15 times and it still works. It went into the dryer too. I should explain that the car is 10 years old.
BmanUltima's car still hasn't been fixed yet, he'll get on it tomorrow, honest.

Mine was all beat to hell at the end of it's life. One of the buttons had torn off (not my fault) - cheap plastic, and the bottom where the ring connects shattered.

Just did the same on my 2000 Golf's remote. It didn't work for 2 days but cured itself on day 3. This is after a full wash and full hot as hell dryer cycle.

I'm thinking the fact that I moved it directly from the wash to the dryer, and ran the dryer on the low heat permanent press cycle, allowed it to gently dry out thus preserving its circuitry.

Either way you and I will both agree I wish more electronic gadgets were as tough and well engineered.
