One of these days, I have to get me another aircooled VW. I'm thinking a '68 or '69 standard Beetle. Or maybe a later pan-switch Mexican Beetle if I really want to go crazy.

I remember driving more than a few of these, including an automatic Squareback. Not a confidence-building car.

I've got a '73 Fastback with a stick. Couldn't tell you what it drives like.

My first car was a '71 Super Beetle. I paid $1,000. It blew up three times before I'd graduated college.

Miss it every day.

My first car was a 68 Beetle. Spent much money on go-fast parts.....lucky I didn't kill myself. You learn what "lift-off oversteer" is very quickly.
