"Logansteno: Bought a VW?" (logansteno)

It took me four tries to turn it over just now. FOUR.
It kept getting progressively closer to starting each time, but I was worried about the starter to I kept stopping. It's never had this problem before, and it started about a month ago. It always starts after a few times though, so I'm not really concerned. My dad says to tell him if it keeps happening. So I guess I'll keep an eye on it.
Here, have a Legacy GT. Another potential Safari replacement. Subies hold their value really well so I dunno.

I think the limit of time before overheating the starter is 30 seconds.

The Legacy was one of the possibilities when I got the C5, didn't buy one because I couldn't find a low mileage example.

Now cut that in half and subtract 2 and that's probably the limit for mine.

All the ones I'm looking at are well over 100k, but I'm not one to turn a car away from high mileage.

Trying to find the limit on your starter, I discovered that Safari's were available with the Iron Puke. Be happy you have the monstrous 4.3l, some kid out there probably has your twin with the 2.5.

Yup, a whopping 95 horsepower. I really wonder if it could even reach highway speeds.

Probably, but how easy would it be to hold it there I wonder?

I'd imagine having to constantly almost floor it. And forget about it if there's a headwind.

Driving my 4Runner with a headwind is hellish. I had to drive it 75 miles(one way) with a headwind and it would hit 70, and then immediately slow back down to 55-60. I can't imagine doing that in something that makes the 4Runner seem fast.

Well, time to burn it already.
Btw, Insurance on a Legacy GT is amazingly high because power.

That's what I said, Try a non GT Legacy. Even for me, the insurance was too much to handle.

Actually, I looked at the insurance between a 2005 Legacy GT and a 2004 Impreza, and it was cheaper to insure the GT. I guess it depends on area, maybe?

I'm in my 20's, DC area, clean driving record, and only one major accident (Not my fault)
That all probably has something to do with it.

I'm a similar age, although I probably live in a less hazardous city, and have no accidents.
So yeah, probably. I hear DC is a shithole to drive in.

DC driving sucks.
1. Cops galore.
2. No radar detectors.
3. TRAFFIICCCCC
4. Roads with Grand Canyon sized craters in them.
5. The hood is always 5 minutes in any direction.

Radar detectors aren't a deal breaker for me (besides, they're illegal here as well). The shitty roads? Now that's a problem: you have to pay for high insurance and any damage caused by the roads? That's bullshit.
I think you forgot cyclists, too.

Oh God, don't eve get me started on cyclists. Nothing like getting run over by a twig looking man wearing spandex while riding a bike made out of paper mache.
