Especially when they're a pea-green color.
We're doing an engine tuneup and replacing the ball-joints. The engine bay is shockingly roomy, partially due to the truck only having an I6.
The whole things rusted out and looks rough overall, but it's so cool to have something this old and easy to work on in the shop.
Here's a couple pictures of the badges on the truck.
I also saw a new Colorado in traffic. I tried SO HARD to get a picture of it. But alas, a semi got in the way.

This is from back in the day when SUVs were likely to be used for some utilitarian purpose.

0-60 can be measured in the time it takes for the snail to move one mile!

Cool truck. I miss my '75 so much:( The 454 does a better job of filling that engine bay.
Picture taken after catastrophic engine failure, hence the coolant.

That bay still looks pretty damn roomy.

Yep. Aside from the two spark plugs closest to the firewall everything was easily accessible.

Damn that motor looks small. Should drop in one of these... 500" cad motor I had in my '86 Suburban...

I love a GMT400, we had one growing up and it was great! That I6 is hillarious though, and I can't even imagine what it would be like to drive. ours had the 350 TBI and was barely adequate...though at 5000 feet little from that era was.

Mid 70's it seems. Gonna say a '76?

oh hot damn, I would rather have the I6 than a 6.2 diesel any day. That fucking thing could drive literally forever

Well they offered that color in 76 so I'm gonna believe really hard that it's a 1976.

Surprised the I6 was even an option in a truck that large. Thought Chevrolet spit out small block V8's like drunk redneck spit chewing tobacco

I didn't even know you could get an I-6 in that body Suburban. Very cool. Manual or automatic? Because a 3-on-the-tree would be the icing on that incredibly green cake.

I'm pretty sure it was an automatic. I didn't even think to look for a clutch pedal when I saw the column shifter.

There was one of these in that color, but with woodgrain for sale in L.A. a couple of years ago. It was 4WD and it ran and drove. I almost talked my parents into buying it for me, so I could sell my 4Runner. The temptation was real.
