In a fantastic public relations stunt, the Dutch airline partnered with Van Doorne's Automobiel Fabrieken (DAF) to arrange 46 of their cars in a full-scale outline to inaugurate the delivery of their first Boeing 747 which was the largest passenger airliner in 1971.
DAF was the last Dutch manufacturer still producing its own line cars and were considered a national treasure in the Netherlands. This made them a perfect partner when KLM needed a promotion to illustrate to its customers the extent of its newest acquisition.

You know, I miss the hell out of the understated spectacle of advertising. Sure, all ads are supposed to invoke a feeling of "WANT" but this just so perfect in it's implementation that you can't help but want (there's that word) to fly in one of those birds. Too cool.

Interesting concept!!! :)
It seems the max an actual 747 will hold is 30 cars...30 smart fortwos...

I like the 747, but I think there might be more legroom in the DAF.

I think that plane is sticking its tongue out at me. How rude!
