The bats are said to have been delivered on-time and "considerably under" their multi-trillion dollar budget, according to San Diego Zoo procurement insiders. Officials say the US Air Force remains "thoroughly committed" to the acquisition and deployment of the troubled F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

The bats did have a quite a long while to develop their system, and we didn't have fancy things like writing to record their failures thousands of years ago.
Speaking of this, can someone write a decent book on the press vs. defense contractors? If you would believe the press, the M2 Bradley, B-1 bomber, V-22 Osprey, F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, all are unreliable troop-killing, money-sucking ruses designed to defraud the taxpayer and endanger the state, yet all are in active service and endorsed by everyone who uses them.

BTW, props on linking to the Christian Science Monitor, IMO the last bastion of decent journalism left in the United States.
