I think these are obtainable because they will one day be cheap enough that I could buy them at a reasonable 20-30k price. Perhaps less.

Before I spend money on kids I'd like to own the following at some point:
AMG S-Class or E-Class
Any pre-1975 S-Class
Porsche 911
![]() 11/10/2014 at 10:28 |

2003-2007 Viper SRT10 Convertible right now they are 35K-40K soon they should be around 30K.

ML63
Maser 3200 GT
Quattroporte
CL600

I didn't realize a coupe Honda s2000 was a thing! And why the Audi? I always heard they had a bit poor handling.
![]() 11/10/2014 at 10:33 |

That is a very valid option and an excellent choice.
![]() 11/10/2014 at 10:33 |

Well my first car was almost a 2002 Audi TT, so I still have a thing for them.

CLK63 Black Series:
M635CSI:
'72 Olds 442 (pro touring restomod):
2008 S2000 CR:
And a Challenger Hellcat (Depreciation is a beautiful thing):
![]() 11/10/2014 at 10:34 |

I think the 3200 GT would be a very very special car to own. They are quite cheap as well here in the states.
![]() 11/10/2014 at 10:35 |

Maserati Quattroporte, Porsche 911 SC, Maserati Cambiocorsa, Porsche 914 and 928, VW Squareback and Fastback, Porsche 911 (Early 2000's.)
![]() 11/10/2014 at 10:35 |

That is an excellent first car they are very attractive.
![]() 11/10/2014 at 10:36 |

I wanted to put a Hellcat on the list but I am just not so sure how much that will depreciate.
![]() 11/10/2014 at 10:36 |

I plan on getting a C5 Corvette in the next couple of years. My true attainable dream car is to buy a new corvette someday. I don't think that's beyond reason down the road.
Otherwise I'd really like an R8 if values come down significantly, and I'm keeping an eye on C6 ZR1 prices. They're dipping into the $60k-$70k range...if they come down into the $20kish price I'm buying one
![]() 11/10/2014 at 10:38 |

I wanted to put the Zr1 on the list but I think they will maintain around 40k at their bottom dollar. The Z06 is the one that will depreciate I think. I will be surprised if an R8 dips that low
![]() 11/10/2014 at 10:38 |
|
I say, if you can get a C5 Z06 with 45K miles for 22,000 in 2014, you'll be getting Hellcats for 30K in 2020. (If they haven't outlawed petroleum by then... :'( Long live the dino-juice)

This is assuming I have the cash and still have the ST as the DD:
1. E39 M5 (in immaculate condition that I'll supercharge)
2. Viper SRT10 convertible, just because I want to drive on a knife's edge.
3. Factory Five MK4 Roadster, so I can build it with my son (just 5 weeks old now, I got time to dream!)
![]() 11/10/2014 at 10:40 |

I hope one day it will just be us weirdos collecting dino juice cars and they will all be rock bottom. Only good side of cars (possibly) going all electric or driverless.

Lexus LS460L, Lexus LX570, Lexus RCF.
Porsche Panamera, Cayenne (both GTS).
Cadillac CTS V-Sport, V wagon.
Mercedes E63 Wagon, S65 (will eventually be cheap, but I'll never want to deal with the maintenance.)
I have an awkward list for someone on Oppo.
![]() 11/10/2014 at 10:41 |

The Factory Five would be a very fun and cool project!
![]() 11/10/2014 at 10:42 |

I could see the Panamera or Cayenne. I briefly thought about adding them to my list. Weird for sure but a hell of a lot of fun and true Porsche fans will turn their snotty noses meaning more for us!

W220 S55 or S65 AMG
E39 & E60 M5's
W140 with a 7.3 tuned by Brabus or swap an AMG motor in :)
And I'd like to own a Supra at some point.
![]() 11/10/2014 at 10:47 |

I'm all for electric cars. Save the magic juice for the people that actually USE it! Driverless cars, though... Idk. Raise the driver requirements for those who want to drive, and let the incompetent text and watch movies while the car drives them. Everybody wins! (sort of)
![]() 11/10/2014 at 10:48 |

What a fine selection. A Supra will soon be out of the price range I fear
![]() 11/10/2014 at 10:50 |

Thank you sir! I grew up in Jap and Euro cars so I'm biased. And that's what I fear as well!
If I were to add an American car, I love the 03-04 Mustang Cobras.
![]() 11/10/2014 at 11:00 |

I agree on all accounts.
The R8 has been overtaken by a new Corvette in my dreams. I'd still really like an R8, but I don't expect them to get below $50k or so, at best. If they hover around the price of a new Corvette I'm getting a new Corvette.
C6 Corvettes are hard to judge I think. The base C6 will probably dip to current C5 values eventually, but the Z06? I don't know. I'm curious to see how well the C7 Z06 sells and if the availability of those drives the C6 ZR1 value down.

W221 S-65
STS-V
And our current 2012 Suburban LTZ
![]() 11/10/2014 at 11:10 |

I could see the Z06 going down largely because it will be forgotten next to the Zr1. If one fact holds true about American cars it is power is almost always the main ingredient. I think the new Z06 will bring down the house on the previous Zr1. Convertible, Targa, and an overall better quality.

My definition of "obtainable" is considerably cheaper than pretty much everything posted here so far. I might be poorer than I thought...
Anyway, here goes
855R (with a Manučl)
P2 V70R
E39 M5
E36 M3 Coupe
Mercedes W201 2.5-16 Cosworth
Saab 900 Turbo
Nissan Stagea w/ RB26DETT and R34 front end
Plus many more I may have forgotten...

I have low goals.
Then if I can ever afford one an Elise, Evora, C7 Corvette or any Viper.

it looks like someone photo shopped an integra roof onto that S2k

I LOVE this game:
First the wife's dream car, and subsequent road trip machine
My daily subtle, angry noise making tire shredding beast
And since we are talking about spending 30-40k on these things, I already own this but I would love to have 30-40k to spend truly realizing the dream I had when I bought her
Imagine how properly sorted out you could make a LR DII with 30-40k of aftermarket upgrades. Shit, you could even swap in a TD5 and manual. :-)
![]() 11/10/2014 at 11:49 |

There is an office next to mine that someone who works there has an STS-V. Those things are not common at all.

You're weird, but I like you. :-)

NSX (I'm determined to get one as my next car)
E39 M5
E63 AMG wagon
Cayman S/GTS
Lotus Elise
Alfa 4C
2nd gen Z/28
![]() 11/10/2014 at 11:54 |

Wait a minute. Are you saying I'm a Saab?
![]() 11/10/2014 at 11:56 |

No, you just have weird taste in cars, and I love that about people.
![]() 11/10/2014 at 11:57 |

You have more realistic and obtainable options!
![]() 11/10/2014 at 11:58 |

Still some cool and unique options! I like the last option the best I must admit.
![]() 11/10/2014 at 12:01 |

Climb every mountain, ford every stream!
![]() 11/10/2014 at 12:02 |

That's precisely why I like Jalopnik, Oppo, and Torchinsky in particular.
![]() 11/10/2014 at 12:02 |

The Alfa I am worried will not ever depreciate. As for the NSX I can't imagine a better choice!
![]() 11/10/2014 at 12:04 |

It's more likely than some of the others—I doubt I will have an easy time finding a 2CV or a 95 two-stroke in North America.

hhahaha, exactly
![]() 11/10/2014 at 19:26 |

Your list looks like a lot like mine. Light coupes and fast sedans/wagons.
Chevy SS
CTS-V Wagon
Lotus Elise/Exige
C6 Z06/ZR1

I am lucky in that most of mine are attainable. I am only limited by parking, maintenance, insurance and, of course, money.
My list of unattainable cars is too long to post.

I never knew Dodge made a convertible truck!
![]() 11/10/2014 at 20:22 |

Yes, they did . Shelby also took a few of them from the same year and made a performance version. I love it when car companies get insane ideas.

All my attainable dream cars are dirt cheap, it's simply a matter of finding them for sale (which is a real bugger with some of them).
-Alfa Romeo GTV6
-Alfa Romeo 6
-Alfa Romeo Alfetta saloon
-Triumph Spit6 (got this one!)
-Triumph GT6
-Triumph Toledo (with a sprint engine)
-Triumph TR6
-Jaguar XJS
-Jaguar XJ40 (got this one too!)
-Rover SD1
-Lancia Beta HPE
-Maserati Biturbo (early car with a 2.8l late engine)
![]() 11/11/2014 at 10:37 |

Mine are pretty much all cheap as chips already—I'm just not ready to part with my current car yet.
![]() 11/11/2014 at 10:45 |

I do wish Americans had the option of driving French cars they always seem to make the best hot hatches
![]() 11/11/2014 at 16:28 |

It's probably a conversion.
![]() 11/18/2014 at 18:13 |

Some of these are in the probable next car category, some are further out of reach.
By no means complete, but a start.

As far as lists go that's pretty solid. You have everything from family ballistic missile to supercar.
