Now that we've covered late 80's GMs oddballs, how about some late 80's non GM oddballs.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Chrysler had some interesting ones based on the K-car platform with a Shelby name slapped on them. How about Shelby Lancer?
or Shelby Charger. K-car Chargers sucked but I still have a soft spot for these.
Omni GLH. Add a pretty girl and a tank of gas and your car just doubled in value.
Were there any oddball special edition Chrysler 600s? You know, the K-car convertible featured in Planes Trains and Automobiles. Or maybe it was John Voight's Lebaron? Either way both cars were so hot they caught on fire.
I am trying to think if Ford ever got on the fancy special edition oddball band wagon but can't really think of any cars other than the Mustang SVO.
And perhaps the Turbo Coupe.
Any others?

With Ford you could argue the entire Merkur line. They were odd for the USDM.

Does the Probe count? It had a funky design for the era.

Only if the Probe has some weird submodel like GTX or something.

Dodge Dakota Shelby was an odd duck. And then certainly the Dakota Convertible. It's the only convertible pickup truck I can think of.

There was the GT, which was a 4 cylinder turbo. It also was built to replace the Mustang, so it kind of has the 928 oddballness to it.

I've seen at Iola where somebody on their own combined the two into a Shelby Dakota Convertible.

Ford had Turbo Escorts and EXPs, a turbo Mustang GT and Capri RS Turbo with a really funky hood, and don't forget the XR4TI.
But they never did as much as Ma Mopar did with hair dryers.
There was a Shelby specific spoiler for that Lancer. It mounted to the roof at the rear window.

There's somebody running around here in a gold Crysler 600 convertible turbo. Its a hideous car, in excellent condition. I've seen him twice in the last few weeks.

Was it a whole line? I thought it was just the one car?

Me neither but I was aware that there were more Merkurs than the XRT4 or whatever.
