Almost 14 hours after we started and we've given up for the day because it's being a pain in the ass. We have the lock/unlock and trunk to work, but the remote start, the whole reason for doing this, is being a bitch.
Fords of certain years have a special system that requires either A) a third key put into a box under the dash for the starter to read the codes, or B) a bypass system that learns the keys via the ignition that allows you to start the car remotely. My dad purchased a bypass system which will learn the codes, but the remote starter will only work one time after it learns the codes, then you have to teach them again. We can't figure out why and it's annoying as all hell.
I did remove the "24V DOHC" badge from her driver's side fender. No more lying about having a Duratec anymore!

Why do cars look so much better with the sunroof popped?

I don't know, but as I was looking at that picture I was thinking the same thing.

If you buy a car in Wisconsin, or Minnesota, or some other frozen state, why don't they just install a remote starter as standard? My '97 SHO spent a winter in Wisconsin, and I had to learn the warmup routine.

Apparently Ford never even offered remote start as an option on the car.

I kind of get the same vibe from a popped sunroof as a popped spoiler. Does it make sense? No, not really. But it's just the vibe that I get.

A remote start for your girlfriend? I get a remote stop, or even a mute button, but why would you want her to start remotely?

Its likely losing the 12V constant, you may have it wired to a switched 12V. Or it could be a cheap ass module. I used to work in a shop doing stereo & alarms, the name brand stuff is definitely worth buying over the ebay-grade modules

Does it have something to do with rotating codes? maybe your dad bought the wrong box? I have had 1 system installed on 2 different cars and while both were fords, and both were done professionally, they needed a different box so it wasn't a simple re-install.
