Had three people show up today looking for parts for their Volvos. The first was looking for a foglight housing for his car: we didn't have any. Then again, we don't really carry those, so it wasn't much of a surprise.
Second guy was looking for... something else. Can't quite remember. I'm sure it was important and a common enough part. Anyway, whatever it was, we didn't have any.
Third guy was looking for lug nuts for his 2004 XC70. Guess what we didn't have? Yeah, I don't know if they use a special lug not or something made for these vehicles. It was really weird.
Moral of the story: if you want to get parts easy, don't buy a Volvo. Have a V60 for your time.

Cappy Tire—an affectionate name for the national institution called Canadian Tire—is a great place for parts if you have a car model that is commonly used as a taxi.

Weird... I've had an incredibly easy time getting parts for my 740 and my 122... Guess it's the difference between parts stores in 'Murica and Canuckistan? I even bought a coolant temp sensor for the 740, today.

I've been able to get parts before, it's just that, for some reason, all the parts that people wanted for Volvos were dealer only. I can usually get a lot of things, today was just... off.
The lug nuts will continue to weird me out, though.

But only Volvos. Those damn Swedes!

At least for the older cars, the studs are M12x1.5 with corresponding nuts. (19mm head)
Also, for weird... Lug bolts for a Fiat 124 Spider. M12x1.25... Those are weird.

This. Ultra-common domestic cars only, and Civic/Corolla parts here.
