So my uncle just sent me a few pictures. He's doing a weekend test of a Ferrari FF to see how he likes it. This might mean he's not getting an F12 or a Ford GT like he was considering, but this is an okay alternative. I guess he's looking for a good winter beater and the RWD 2 seaters don't really fit the bill.
I will update if I get any more info. Oh, how I wish I was home this weekend so I could test drive it myself...

Make sure he knows that shifting to 5th disables the AWD.

If this is going to be his winter beater then what is his summer car?

Nice winter beater.

The Stig found that out quickly.

All good choices, but I would pick the GT. It will appreciate from day 1. The Ferrari's will depreciate for 20 years before they start going back up in value.

you are very correct. But my guess is that his uncle doesn't care. If you can afford this car has his winter beater then he's probably not worried about depreciation.

Has he thought Gallardo? AWD.

The current summer list is: Ferrari F430, Ferrari 365 GTC, Porsche 991 911 S, Porsche Carrera RS, Maserati Seabring Series II, and an AC Ace. He has a few cars that I don't know about thought, so that list may be incomplete

I knew about some of them from what you told me but this is the first time I saw this list. Holy crap man.
I will never be as cool as your uncle

Idk I think a Veyron would be a better winter beater

He's got a few investment cars already (see my comment to Rusto) so I don't think he really cares this time around. He just wanted a GT because he thinks they're badass, not because he was worrying about appreciation.

That's so weird. He probably knows, but I'll make sure of that. Ahaha

I don't think so. He used to really want a Gallardo but he's been on a Ferrari kick lately.

If I were shopping in that price bracket, I'd sure want to try the Gallardo and its cheaper siblings, the A8 V10 and V8. Bentley Continental is also AWD, although it's hardly a sports car.

Probably right.... #firstworldproblems

It's okay, Rusto... Neither will I.
And he's got a few race cars too. But I can only name his Lola S2000 off the top of my head.

I don't think he's shopping in quite that price range. Ahahah

he'll probably just end up buying both, haha

omg
Race cars too?
That is awesome!

So... is your uncle hiring?

How the hell is THAT a beater?? I was looking at $2000 cars for winter. What am I doing wrong??
![]() 11/08/2014 at 19:43 |

It has to do with the way the AWD system works. It's actually very weak and cannot be run past a certain speed.

Yup. He said I can drive one after I do the Skip Barber Racing School. I am so excited.

He needs the back seat. He's got two kids under 10. I'm hoping he sends me a picture of the carseat in the FF

That would be worth posting. There's also the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, although not AWD. I love the look of that thing. A there are rare manual versions.

Absolutely nothing. It took my uncle years and years of hard work and - God I hate this term - pulling himself up by his bootstraps to get where he is today. That means there still hope for you and me!!! If I'm 1/4 as cool as my uncle when I'm 40, I will consider my life a great success.

Honestly, I couldn't even tell you what he does for work so I have no idea. I have a veggie idea, but he's invocled with so much that I can hardly keep it straight. All I know is that whatever he does is legal, and it took him a lot of hard work to get to where he is today.
Hopefully he has an opening for the both of us. Ahaha.

I have dreams of being able to use the word Ferrari and beater in the same sentence in regards to my own life... Such wonderful dreams they are.

I'll be happy even if someday I can refer to my Mondial as a beater!

Dear... Nibby's Great-Uncle, I guess? Yeah, well, you know... trickle down economics and stuff. And if you pay me the yearly depreciation/maintenance of the FF I'll take care of the other cars. Thanks.
