Mitsubishi Montero. This generation. I know nearly nothing about them, but want one every time I see one. Absolutely no idea why. What about you guys? What do you like for no reason at all—or, alternatively, what boring cars do you inexplicably like?

That's a Montero Sport.

But there is no such thing as no definable reason. Every car that I like there is a reason why I like it. Even cars that I know nothing about. For example I like 2015 Transit Connect van. I know nothing about them but I saw one pass me on the highway and notice the stance from the rear which I liked.

2nd Gen Nissan Pathfinder.

Kinja'd!!!

No idea why, but I love these. Never ever rode in one.

That's true. It's the proportions that make so many of these cars appealing for me, and the proportions of wheel gap to fenders in these. The Montero Sports I really like are the white ones with black body cladding, and black-center wheels. Just proportionally, they work for me.

Again, I know nothing about those things, except that the proportions work when I see one out and about (and, apparently, that they were sold with V6s).

there are plenty of reasons to love the montero. I drove myself and a member here, reigntastic around all through Highschool in a 1997 champagne montero. Bought it at 188k sold it at 227k. Just kept running

What I mean is, the Montero and Montero Sport are separate models. To put it another way, outside the US, the Montero is called the Pajero, and the Montero Sport is called the Shogun.

2nd gen Montero/Pajer0:

Kinja'd!!!

2nd gen Montero/Pajero facelift

Kinja'd!!!

3rd gen Montero/Pajero

Kinja'd!!!

Montero Sport/Shogun (this one is post-facelift)

I could care less about the Ford Explorer, but I have always lusted over the 1st gen Mountaineer. As an elementary school kid, I got carted around in one a lot by a friend's parents, and it was the shiznit. Still want one now that they're cheap as dirt.

I dont really like trucks, not a huge fan of Fords, and dont particularly like modular motors. But something about them does it for me.

if I ever get one, it would have to be yellow. Might as well go all out if you're going to go with a quirky suv

Oh, I believe you haha. I'm just reiterating that that's how little I know about these, despite wanting one. As soon as I saw your response I realized it was like a Cherokee/Grand Cherokee thing.

I drive a white 2000 mercury mountianeer as my DD, so the 1st gen like you are talking about, my only suggestion is to get the one with the V8, the V6 in mine (the 4.0 SOHC) is very underpowered, though if you are ever up in northern Idaho, give me a ring and I'll let you drive mine. I do really like the look of the grill on them.

Thanks for the offer, If I'm ever in that part of the country I'll be sure to take you up on it! The Mountaineer I remember was a 2000 as well, but the thing was loaded. It had the V8 and the best leather seats I've ever been in. You'd sit and just sink in.

They ended up abusing that thing for 200,000 miles before the frame snapped in half a few years ago. Good truck.

Dodge viper.

Dodge viper: Less affordable than the 'Vette, but when it kills you, at least you'll look good doing it!

Also, for boring car: Dodge Intrepid. It just looks jolly and innocent, kind of like the Nissan Juke. :)

5th gen Monte Carlo Z34. It was my second vehicle, first one I bought with my own money. I'd replaced the alternator, done the timing belt, replaced the transmission twice, and until it was wrecked, I loved that car. I had a GM Performance Parts w-Body handling kit (strut tower brace, solid vs. hollow sway bars front and rear, and solid vs. stamped rear trailing arms) an underdrive crank pulley and aluminum short motor mounts from a guy that used to make performance parts for these things, and a high-flow cat welded in when my factory brick let go. It was a pig, but it was my pig. I loved the sound that engine made, and I loved the car it came with. Pity the transmissions in them are made of glass or I would have another one to replace it.
