If I were filty rich and had the choice between a Vette and 911 I wouldn't think twice about getting a 911. Sure, the Corvette might offer better performance, but it doesn't excite near as much.

The C7 is cool but the 911 is understated and reserved (depending on the sub model) plus not everyone is into absolute performance numbers.

Why buy a 911 when you can buy a 2016 smart? After all, they have similar design philosophies!

- Rear Engine.
- RWD.
- Turbocharged.
- Flappy paddles (DCT) or Manual.
- Staggered wheels.
- Looks haven't changed much.
- Will be available as a convertible.

You could, and the Mainpage did make the argument that the C63 AMG was a muscle car. The M3 is starting to get portly enough to be called an intermediate, which was always what muscle cars were, just with a big engine. The M3 didn't start out as a Muscle Car, and its still a bit far off, but it is no longer the compact it was when started. the reason why the modern muscle car has been compared to the C63 and M3 is because of how much better the muscle car as gotten, dont forget that the z/28 blows the doors off most vehicles, most costing much much more.

no that engine is an abominations, 4.0l Twin Turbo, Direct Injected Dual overhead cams and variable valve timing for a whopping 503 hp, and it's heaver than a 7l LS7 and makes less power, its a swing and a miss from Merc on this one.

They needed to drive the displacement down, CO2 numbers are going to be important going forward, especially since a lot of their market for this is Europe. If you want 500hp and sub 250g/km CO2, it takes a lot of boost and wizardry.
They can't all be OHV big breathers.

Faster than the current GT3? Hmm, I would bet opposite simply to keep things interesting. I would be all in favor of an American car whooping booty in street sports cars, but I really don't like the politics and business of GM. They have amazing history, great engineers, a 70% horrible-would-not-buy lineup. I think I would geniunely be more excited if Ford was building a sort of Ford GT-lite to compete with the mainstream Porsche lineup, and of course the full beans GT to compete with the 991 GT3/GT2/GT3RS/GT2RS.

I left it at street sports cars, as we all are well aware of the work that Corvette racing puts in during the GT series

I consider the Z/28 more of a specialty track car than the new Z06 at this point.

Z/28 = Specialty motor, special shocks, special tires, lighter than the base model.

C7 Z06 = Same motor with a supercharger strapped on, somewhat better shocks and tires and aero, heavier than the base model.
