I like it. 1) it still has a real name, and 2) those taillights...

1. Real name
2. Dem taillights
3. Crush the rest of it

3) that low 6-second 0-60 time for the ESV.
Really though, it's so much more than a gussies up Tahoe this generation IMO.

Agreed. I'm so disappointed that Cadillac is going (further) down the stupid road of naming cars with letters and numbers. Who in their right mind thinks that's better than using actual names?
Also, I'm not a fan of the new Tahoes (I think they look too busy and fussy compared to the last gen), but I think the new Escalades look nice.

Also, I would totally rock this:

I like the Volvo-850-ish tailights!
Too bad the Escalade is too big. If it was a wagon it would be waaaaaaaaaaaaay cooler!

They did a good job this time

agreed, the new Chevy front clip is pretty ugly

I love that angle. Its the other angle that isnt very nice.

The only downside of the Escalade is that the Tahoe exist.

Hot damn them tail lights.
I love me the rear of a fiiiiiineee Caddy.

Save money, buy the Tahoe/Suburban. The Escalade is garish, and I often see them double-parked.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 14:15 |

The Tahoe/Suburban front end is hideous, IMO.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 14:16 |

Agreed, although I've yet to see one with the front air dam removed and I bet that makes a difference.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 14:19 |

Agreed. 3/4 the size and a lot less tall would make it far better, imho.

I love the tail lights too.
I only wish they had the full width Center Brake Light like the old ones. Like so:
Would have made for a CRAZY back end of LEDs

IMHO Its the marketing idea of putting the brand ahead of individual cars. Its horrid and I hate it.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 14:28 |

I also happen to like everything else about it.

I don't see anything wrong with it, but everyone has an opinion. And all the horrible badging on the Caddy. I'd ask why there's even a truck in the Cadillac lineup, but I know the answer - it's an easy way to fleece buyers. Those things must be hugely profitable.

And don't get me started on this ... just don't.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 14:42 |

lower it and add smaller wheels and you've got a wagon
![]() 11/07/2014 at 14:54 |
|
that has more ground clearance than the suburban though!
![]() 11/07/2014 at 14:56 |

that's pretty much the only good angle - I don't like the way the headlights rake around the corners. I agree that the Escalade is a bit silly but at the same time it's essentially their flagship until the CT6 goes into production.

the CTS wagon has the same taillights
![]() 11/07/2014 at 14:58 |

... I like how it looks and drives.

It's funny you say that because I actually prefer this to the caddy.

I just can't get myself to like driving anything that big.

I think it'll look better in the metal, with a light coating of city grime. I'll let you know when I see one.

Looks too much like a hearse for me.
![]() 11/07/2014 at 16:07 |

My car called, it wants it's taillights back.

*has a real name for now...

Its the only Cadillac that has been doing the traditional luxury cruiser thing consistently well over the years, and while the CTS has built up a good following, I'd argue the Escalade is the only truly iconic model they currently sell.
Its also interesting that its the only one that still has a proper name and the only one not being rebranded to their new CT/XT nomenclature, because it has too strong of an identity and they don't want to throw that away. Imagine if their cars had kept strong, well-known, names and consistently improved with each generation the way the Escalade has.

Definitely their flagship. I'm pretty sure the new Caddy chief said that the Escalade name was too strong to kill.

I'm not afraid to admit that all I care about in this picture is the Crown Victoria in front of the Caddy.
