I won!!! I got pulled over recently for an illegal muffler and was given a fix it ticket (where you fix it within two weeks and the ticket goes bye bye). I only have an axle back exhaust, so stock resonator and cat. The car sounds nice and deep, not too loud by any means. I was very upset about this for multiple reasons:
1. Wisconsin is full of obscenely loud Harleys running straightpipes, Hondas with huge fart cannons, and trucks with dual exhausts. And they pull little ol me over?!
2. Buying this car has cleaned me out financially, and I cant afford either a ticket or to replace the exhaust.
3. I like my exhaust and would like to keep it.
So I tried to get it signed off on without doing a damn thing. I got the ticket in a suburb of Milwaukee, and he said I could get it checked and signed off on at any cop shop in the state. So I went to a seedy part of Milwaukee yesterday and the officer came out and took a look. Had me start it up and rev it (OH SHIT!) and said it sounds a little loud. I told him I had straight pipes and a fart cannon when I got pulled over so it is much quieter than it was. He said whatever and signed off on it. So I keep my exhaust and avoid a $130 ticket.
Gotta watch out for that original cop in my hometown though....

Lol please tell me you actually said "fart cannon" to a cop?!
But seriously how the hell do bikes get away with that shit and cars don't? I say this as someone who has been pulled over a lot and never had a cop mention my lack of exhaust :) .

Damn ricers. Getouttamystate. #oldmanrant
I got pulled over in Cedarburg when I had my Legacy wagon for a headlight out, I was just WAITING for something to be said about my exhaust..... UEL headers, 2.5" resonator-less midpipe and a STi muffler made it kinda loud.

I definitely said fart cannon at least a couple times. He was laughing. He seemed like a decent guy to me.

Got the ticket in Menomonee Falls, got out of it in Milwaukee.

the cops in the "rich" suburbs are always a pain in the ass...I'm around Brookfield a lot and those cops really need something better to do

got pulled over, first time I had ever been pulled over ever, for a busted headlight in my 88 subaru. I can't find proof of insurance, but... in the glovebox is literally every insurance card since 1988 (it was 1997) EXCEPT the current one. Cop laughed, let me off.
subarus and headlights, ammiright?

My car was also lowered at the time, and I was on my way home from seeing Fast 5 on opening night. And it was 1AM.
And the headlights were JDM projectors.
SO MUCH ILLEGALITY.

Hey Milky, do you have any videos or sound clips of your car revving? I ask because I'm thinking about buying a Crossfire, and I'm looking for a little extra motivation.

I have thought about that. Of course in Wisconsin it's still illegal. Harder to prove on their part, But if you go flying by a cop sounding like flight of the valkries they still might be able to pin you down.

So is there no decibel rating at all? Here you have to be below 95Db at the loudest, and it is measured at 1m from various points around the car. It is part of our Warrant Of Fitness if the inspector thinks it is too loud.

Anything any louder than stock is illegal. So no decibel measurement.
