Hey guys. I've been feeling like shit lately from a lot of personal issues. I just want to know some of your favorite sad songs. I have my three picks below. I'd love to hear some others.
"Sometime Around Midnight" by The Airborne Toxic Event
This whole song... essentially a story about seeing the one you love... leaving and having fun with someone else.
"Black" by Pearl Jam
"I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky, But why, why, why can't it be, can't it be mine?"
"The River" by Bruce Springsteen
Those two lines right near the end... "Is a dream a lie if it don't come true/Or is it something worse"
What are your picks?

Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis - Tom Waits
A Sweet Little Bullet from a Pretty Blue Gun - Tom Waits
also
Alabama Pines by Jason Isbell and the 400 unit is a homesick sad song.

I used to listen to this when I was in a funk. Please don't feel the urge to drown yourself in a river, though.

Beck's Sea Change. The entire album. It was recorded after Beck's longtime girlfriend/fiance cheated and left him. It's musically fantastic, and according to Wikipedia: "The recordings from Sea Change sessions include themes of heartbreak and desolation, solitude and loneliness" Sad enough for ya?

Awesome pick. I honestly forgot about this song. Didnt know many people liked him! I have three of his albums and this is one of my favorites by him. I love the acoustic guitar in a lot of his songs.
I can relate to this song a whole lot.

Oh man, the river, that's one of my favorites. Always have also liked "smoke rings in the dark" by Gary Allan if you do the country-ish sorta thing

You don't need more sad songs, you need cheering up. It's Steinman time.
Now smile, you sad bastard.
