Introducing the very orange 1982 BMW 320i that I just bought a couple days ago

Kinja'd!!!

Apologies for the garbage iPhone pictures, it's all I had on that day, the good camera will come out when it stops raining and I'm not working. Plus, you can't see hoe much the car needs washed with these pictures.

Anyways, It's an '82 320i, which means it has the euro M10B18 in lieu of the US M10B20. Higher comp and about 100hp instead of lower comp and 120hp....it's a 5 speed, with rather tall gearing, I believe it's just a 4 speed box with a 5th gear added for economy purposes, the sport trans was a dogleg. As such, 4th is almost adequate for cruising at 100km/h, and 5th lets it go along happily at 120km/h only pushing 2200rpm or so, I'm impressed.

This one has 216k (kms) on it, and everything works except the backlight for the dash. It also needs rear subframe mounts, and probably some tightening up in the front end because I definitely have the infamous E21 55mph shimmy. But the body is very good, and so is the interior, which I'll take pictures of soon. It has black Recaros from the factory.

Kinja'd!!!

Oh and the diving boards are going to be dealt with immediately. I'll probably just remove the front, and only run the rubber liner to hide the mounting holes. It comes with that air dam stock, which is a plus.

Kinja'd!!!

With my two friends cars, a 1986 535i, and a 1991 318is

Kinja'd!!!

We're pretty familiar with making old bimmers look like the sharks they were meant to be

Kinja'd!!!

I'll do separate pieces on those cars soonish, as they're both badass and deserve attention.

So there she is! Expect more E21 posts as I dig more into this wonderful little thing

Have a widebody

Love the E21. Used to have an '81 myself. I will own another one at some point.

That's bold......it's just gonna keep the uber-healthy M10 for now, and when I decide to make poor choices, it might somehow get an M30, because Hartge actually did that in the 80s.

Also M30s are cheaper than S54s, and I don't make a lot of money

It just feels so much better than later cars. E32s are about as new as I'd want, granted I've never driven a BMW newer than an E32

I'm really happy I found one. There are only 3 or 4 I know of around here, including mine, which is the cleanest

Haha a man can dream... The M30 is the best straight 6 all around. I'm willing to bet you could set of hand grenade off in the crankcase and it would still run.

Yeah I have a deep love for the M30...between another friend and I, we've had 5 M30 engined bimmers. 2 E32s, and 3 E28s.....the 3rd E28 is a 533i/5 with 452,000kms on it.....probably not the original motor, but it could be. It could barely run, w change the fuel filter,t eh oil, and the spark plugs, and she's golden but for a persistent code inducing limp mode

Nice! I want an E21 so badly! If I wasn't driving, I would have gotten a picture of an Alpina replica I saw on Tuesday.

E21s are definitely my favourite generation of 3-series. I like them so much I might even buy one (which is big coming from a solid Alfa/Triumph enthusiast).
