I got my 2JZ front cut running last night, but not without some drama.

First, the starter was bad so I had to rebuild it. Getting at the starter in an Aristo is no small task, preferred method is to unbolt the rear of the tranny, drop it a bit, then use 3 miles of extensions and knuckles to get the bolts out. I got no time for such things, so I chopped a hole in the floorboard.

I got the starter out, threw new contacts in it, put it back in, then turned the key. It cranked over pretty good! Then I noticed the oil. Oil everywhere.

The previous owner must have had an oil pressure sender or something hooked up and taken it with him, leaving me with this hole. The plate with the hole is not factory BTW.

So, after cleaning up my mess I put a bolt in that hole, then took this video:

WOOOOOOOT!!!

I have a friend who has (or had?) a Soarer. From what I remember hearing, it had a similar location for the starter. His had died as well. Push starting a beast like that took several of us, but it worked. Perhaps I'll have to suggest to him a similar approach to getting to the starter...

In the last pic... is the car cut in half or something?

EDIT: second to last.

May I ask how much such a front clip cost? I'm sure I could find something to put a 2JZ in.

~$10/hp not a bad way to spend $2750 now all you need it some overnight parts from Japan and you'll really be cooking.

They are on the way :) My goals are modest, I'm going single turbo and hope to be around 400 rwhp when done. If you haven't seen, it's going in this:

I've seen it. It's going to be awesome! You'll make the ford guys mad but I love it.
