The Toyota Camry has a new ad campaign saying that it is "Bold Choice". Other bold choices include water with lemon or white bread.

I saw that the other day and shook my head in disgust. Although I will say the new corolla looks better than the previous two generations. Not that it is a good car, but it looks better.

Water with lemon is too bold for me.

I do actually enjoy. It gives some decent flavor with nothing extra.

The VW Jetta has a new ad campaign saying, "isn't time for German Engineering". Drum brakes and hecho y diseñado en Mexico are a few other German things :]

Love it. I like lemon with just about anything, even by itself.

they "German" engineered a brand new Jetta....supposedly. Not too much new and the whole "German" notion doesn't mean anything to me.

Doesn't mean much to me either. I usually actively tell people to avoid German cars (except old benz's).

it is not really anything about German, Japanese, or any other. It always boils to basic automotive. If Merc makes its locks hydraulic, it's not because "precision German Engineering" but more like...hydraulic lock actuators, that's it. VW's whole German engineering marketing angle is as goofy but as genius as Ram using the Hemi name when it shares zero mechanical traits of the original hemisphereric V8's of the past. Marketing is great :] Just like the Target cashier all over social media.
But because of mostly Top Gear UK, enthusiasts have it forever in their head of the supremacy of the Germans.
Mini rant over and reminding myself of the 7 German cars i've purchased NOT because of German engineering lol
