The term barn find is tossed around for any vehicle that has been abandoned or neglected for many years and is then picked up for much cheaper than a nice version. Sometimes, barn find fever strikes buyers and suddenly folks are bidding for the right to restore some pile of parts and the discount associated with buying a pile of parts is suddenly gone.
Today's example hasn't spent much time in a chicken coop, but that hasn't stopped Jesse over at BarnFinds.com from picking it up and now selling it on eBay. Find this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! currently bidding for $7,755 with 4 days to go, located in Boise, ID.
You can read more about this Dusters history and story on the Barnfinds website !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , but the short version is that Barnfinds.com's Editor-in-Chief (Jesse) purchased it from another person who had picked it up from a car club member who had purchased it from the original owner. This means, if you buy it, you will be the...hang on...5th owner, which ain't too shabby at all. When you sell it, just say something like "one family" owned, because we are all related to some extent, right?
Let's get to the good stuff — this car has a snake skin top. Snake skin. This really tips the scales from loser to awesome, and you could say that I've been bitten and this car has me all wrapped up. SNAKE SKIN!! The interior also features some awesome 70s era colored stripes in a refurbished interior that the previous owner fixed.
Under the hood is a 225 cubic inch inline-6 that pushes out 145 horsepower mated to a 3-speed manual shifter on the floor. The real draw on this car isn't the powertrain, it is the fact that it appears to be an un-restored, original, survivor. That alone makes it worth the price of admission.
See a better survivor for sale? Send it here: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Ooh, Slant Six, four-on-the-floor! My Dad had a '71 Valiant with three-on-the-tree and absolutely hated it. He said they were trying to push people to the automatic by making it a tiny bit more expensive that the 3spd, but the 4spd cost way more than the automatic...

I had a '73 Duster with the faux snake skin vinyl... Loved that car, until my brother totaled it.

So the four-on-the-floor is really a 3-speed? This is news to me. Or else the eBay ad that states 3-speed is incorrect.

A '72 Gold Duster was my first car. Metallic brown paint with the snakeskin. Rusted-through behind the rear wheels, and the bench seat was shredded. They say you couldn't kill the Slant 6. I beg to differ. Doing triple digits one night I heard a loud "CLONK" and the party was over. I wanted to drop a 340 in it but my Dad wanted his driveway back so I came home from school one day and it was gone.

I had the same paint job on mine. But I had a 318, which was actually pretty strong after I put a cam and newer heads on it. It went nicely into the '68 Dart GT I replaced it with.

Or... you know more properly, brown vinyl in a snake skin patterned motif. Same thing I guess... Snake skin sounds cooler!

I have a great survivor, but it's not for sale
This Believe or not has been my dad's daily driver since it was given to him by his dad it's a 73 Duster he replaced the vinyl roof since it was deteriorated. All the car is completely stock even the paint is the original.
And for car daily driven it still works sooo fine.
Actually I took this phot a month ago .
Please don't leave me in the gray I want to share it hehe

No, I'm pretty sure they found a snake that didn't have any patterns that was 5 foot around and 6 foot long so they could make a roof without any seams. That is a thing that exists, right?

Hmm, it does say 3spd, doesn't it? There are no pics that show the shift knob. I guess I should trust the word of the people who restored the car, but I never heard of a three-on-the-floor. Whatevs.

Too bad it is the 3-speed manual, and not the A833 4-speed unit with overdrive.

You're a year off, you couldn't get a 4 speed behind a 255 until 1975. It's a notable thing because they hadn't done that in 10 years. Chrysler A833OD aluminum case, resurrected for the "feather duster" models and as usual made available everywhere else...

My buddy's dad gave him a Cordoba with (I think) a 360 in it; we were gonna drop it in the Duster and see what happened. Never got the chance. My dad junked the Duster, his dad junked the Cordoba. I think they were in cahoots!

Slant-Six wasn't available with a four speed to my knowledge. What I am positive about is that it was available with a floor mounted 3-Speed which is most-likely what this is

I assume there was a substantial flowing of not-so-legal substances and some Jefferson Airplane as background music. That, or someone told someone "hey, I got these pics of you and your secretary, they look a bit blurry but still... So, are you gonna OK this thing for me?"

Underpowered? Check.
Ugly vintage upholstery? Check.
Beige (or brown)? Check.
Makes their glasses look period correct? Check.
I think the side stripes might be a deal breaker though. Makes it look sporting.
