To celebrate 30 years of existence, I recently spent a day at Dirtfish Rally School, which is conveniently located 45 min from my house. It was awesome.

My instructor, Kevin, was excellent and I admired his patience and knowledge. I struggled with waiting long enough for the car to finish rotating, so I'd often straighten the wheel or get on the gas too soon. I nailed it a few times, though, and making a clean run felt great.

All the cars were mostly stock previous-gen STI's. The interior was stripped, rollcage added, suspension raised, and rally tires installed. Here's the thing: it was expensive, but being able to drive SOMEONE ELSE's car like that was totally worth it. I didn't have to worry about any of the weird noises or giant rocks or even gas. If you ever get the chance to go or do some other rally driving experience in someone else's car, I highly recommend it. I feel like a 29 year old again.

Issaquah, WA. It's on the property that they filmed the opening sequence of Twin Peaks.

Sounds like a fun experience! I've wanting to take one of their half day or one day programs but they do seem kinda pricey. I might be tempted enough to spend some tax return money on a class in one of their new BRZs though.

The RWD class in the BRZ's does sound fun. It was pricey, but it's hard to compare apples-to-apples with anywhere else. Check reviews to see how much "seat time" you get on the half day vs the full day. The full day may actually give you more than twice the driving time of the half day, but even that left me wanting more.

I need to find some cheap land and a bulldozer...
