Turning radius. Holy shitsnacks, I have driven moving vans more agile than this. Is it just due to the FWD?

Living in a city where U-turns are a way of life, this presents an issue. Might have to start getting frisky with the handbrake.

18"+ wheels in a small well + FWD drivetrain gear means large(r) turning radius. It's inevitable. 39.4 ft is quite spectacular, though. 42.7 ft was for the Volvo S60R which is my personally experienced high-record for a passenger car.

Does it have equal length half shafts? My Abarth does, and it's turning radius is the worst of any car I've ever driven. That might have something to do with it.

I'm actually surprised that there's that little difference between a modern quasi-midsize FWD with big wheels and its many-generations-removed quasi-midsize predecessor on tiny wheels with RWD. Just what the hell were you doing back then, Ford? I looked up those numbers in the assumption they'd be better.

Can't be due just to FWD, because in a raging example of Ford generally not giving a fuck about turning radius since ever, the RWD tiny-wheeled 60s Falcon is at 38 ft, vs. 39.4.

Welcome to the "Every Turn is a Three-Point Turn" club! My Focus too has the turning radius of a cargo ship, something like 40 feet iirc, so I feel your pain. Just a reality of owning an ST or SVT Focus. Good thing is up in the mountains turning circle doesn't matter.

I know what you mean. My old Mazda had a turn radius smaller than Texas by about a foot and a half. I used the RH adjustment tool behind the shifter alot to remedy.

My Charger comes with a system for sharper turns. I just press the pedal on the right and a new fangled system slides the rear around. I wish I knew what the letters stood for though. Anyone know what RWD is short for???
