I was looking at my current wallpaper, which is this:
And that's when I noticed the windshield wiper. It has this funny wing thing on it that I've never seen on a car before. Anyone know what it is? Here's a closeup.

It's a wing to push the wiper down onto the windshield at high speeds.

Like everything else one a Mclaren, it is designed to be aerodynamic at well over 200mph.

Quite a few newer cars have something similar, but it's exactly what you called it, a wing.
It's there to keep it from lifting while at speed and fluttering against the windshield. If you've ever noticed race cars that have a single wiper that is at rest pointing straight up the windshield, it's the same concept just a different approach.

Funny enough it's an air deflector. Can reduce noise and the lift/vibration at higher speeds.
Or it's the radar for the missile launcher.

So it doesn't get torn off? I noticed that some of the Mclaren F1 race cars don't have it.
