This is a new security camera my school installed... IN THE BATHROOM! I do not feel comfortable with this. My privacy is now gone. I do not feel like this is legal at all. What do I do? I know I'm not using the bathrooms here anymore.

It's illegal for private companies, but I think schools have a bit more jurisdiction if they can assert in the court that the cameras were placed there "for the safety of the students"

On a serious note, that is a definite invasion of privacy, or what privacy we even have left. Definitely bring it up with the school; then get the news on it. Then tell some media site to make a news report on it. That's definitely not alright.

They are legal in the most part but aren't allowed to or be able to look inside a cubicle or at the urinals.

I'd voice concern to the head of the school first then to any school committee they may have then go to local press. Give them chance to remove them or answer your concerns before escalating it.

My old high school took off the bathroom doors because of fights, drugs and... Well... Some people were getting a little busy in there. Which is a disgusting place to do that kind of thing. But they never placed cameras in there. That's gone way to far. Unfortunately the school may be allowed to do this for similar reasons above.

I would would start using WAG bags and place them in the school office in the waiting area as a protest of the violation of my rights. Or get the school organized along with supportive parents and demand action to be taken by the school board.

I assume public school, because they seem to think, "Well, shit we are giving them a free education, they won't challenge something that is wrong, especially if we are not teaching about historical groups of Americans who have challenged authority and won."

Get a lazer pointer or one of those stronger lazers. Point it directly into the camera from off image if possible.

It will destroy the optical sensor with no outward damage to the camera. Also no fingerprints.
