This isn't it. This is just a stock pic I found off google. But I decided to check out this 240sx, which has been parked in front of the junkyard for like a year now (or more than a year), and wanted to ask how much.
The entire car is intact, but it seems like it has been drifted by a kid. It has 3 out of 4 wheels, the 4th wheel being a stock wheel (like in the picture above). The other 3 wheels are 18 inch, 5 lug wheels (from what I know, the 240sx originally were 4 lug). There's an ebay gauge just hanging off the A-pillar, and all the seats are stock. The reason, I don't know the price, is because the transmission is auto, and when I saw that, I left.
However, I thought about it on my way home. It's been sitting out there for a while now, and no one wants it. How much would you offer for it? Then if I did buy it, could I just get a manual K24 trans off CL, and plop it in there (I'd also have to buy the clutch cable, and the clutch pedal assembly, which is easily found online)?
While I know that I would immediately gut the car, I'm not sure if I should jump on this (if the price is right), or just leave it alone because I should just be looking for a manual 240sx. What should I do here?

Might be worth it if the price is right. Clean ones are nearly impossible to find, and for some reason, people keep buying the ratty ones for way too much money and promptly crashing them, so the prices go up even more.

Agreed on the cleanliness. I tried to buy a Geo Storm that was in immaculate shape from a junkyard, once, but the greedy bastards didn't want to sell me the entire car for any price. If you can get it for a price that you're comfortable with, go for it!

A manual swap would be doable, but you're missing a few parts. There are several good tutorials for manual swaps in a 240, such as this one .

It might not be being greedy.
In Wisconsin, when a vehicle ends up at a salvage yard the title gets sent in to the DMV. The DMV then brands the title as "junk", logs it in the computer system, and sends it back. The salvage yard then legally cannot sell the car whole to a customer.

It was missing the cat. Basically I could have bought the tired thing on salvage with the title here in SC, but by then it was already a rare car worth way more to them in parts over time. At the time I even had access to a wrecker so I could haul it off if legally required to. We do have salvage titles here, but individuals are capable of restoring cars.

Put in the manual, and restore it to stock. Plenty of fanboys will buy it if you don't like driving it. I love seeing these stock, and Supras. So rare.
