Back in July, I had pit passes for !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Down in pit lane the National Guard team had a booth set up where you could buy stuff like worn out sockets and wrenches, and even race-worn gloves and boots ( ew ). The lug nuts were $1 each. All proceeds from the booth went to charity.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

And yes, the nuts really are that thin:

I get the joke, but have you ever seen a NASCAR suspension setup? The local grocery store had Joey Logano's car parked out front the other summer and I took a look at it. First impression was "there's something very wrong with the front but I can't put my finger on it". Followed by "holy shit, both tires are leaning the same way". It had massive amounts of negative camber on the right side and a lot of positive camber on the left. Camber adjustments were accomplished by about 1" of shims on the right side and about 1/2" of shims on the left. I don't think I took pictures and if I did I'm not sure where they are. If I can dig them up I'll post them later.

I have one! My grandpa got one for me when he visited Hendrick's.

I found it neat that they glued the lug nuts to the wheel before the race so they don't lose them.

It's not so they don't lose them, it's so that they go onto the studs when they change wheels.

well yeah, kind of accomplishes both, you tip the wheel up and put it on, and instead of lug nuts everywhere, they stay on and go on studs.
