Got one last full detail in before shit gets real in WI. Golden hour was in full swing so I grabbed the camera and headed out to some spots for a quick guerrilla shoot.

Nice. Getting her protected for the winter months? The more you do now the better she'll be when spring comes back around. Did you go for a wax or sealant?

It's a matter of protection, Doug. Several coats of sealant are built up which keep it cleaner and make it easier to wash, without water if need be.
Something to consider before winter hits in Rustadelphia.

Yep. I really like the engine and trans. For it's intended purpose, they work great. It feels quick enough and the trans is smooth and quick to downshift. Pulled our ~4,000lb boat out of the lake, in soft sand no problem in 4WD. The mileage isn't great, but you can't win 'em all.
My only real complaint is the steering, which is super slow, requires a lot of effort, and has a huge truing radius. I made a fool of myself trying to parallel park it the first time.

Nope, auto. The manual would have been fun, but I didn't have the final vote when buying. The auto is fine. An extra gear or two would definitely help fuel economy though. It feels really strong and solid. When you detail a car, you get to understand how well it's put together. You notice things like the panel gaps and how much water seeps into places and leaks out later. This is one of the most well put-together vehicles I've done.
Very happy with it though.

Yep, that's the plan anyway. I'll be able to do some waterless washes and coating again.
I generally don't both with wax, though I do like the Poorboy's World stuff I have.
I used Blackfire Wet Diamond sealant and have about two full coats on there from last weekend. I also use Meguire's D156 to help when drying and for a quick wipedown, like I had to do yesterday when I was drying the truck off and the neighbor starts burning leaves. So there's a few coats of that down too.

Thanks! Golden hour was in full swing just as I finished so I grabbed the camera and headed out to some spots near Lake Michigan.

I love how you put that bit about how well built it is. Glad to hear you like it!

Yeah this truck and a family member's G37 (both 2011) made me appreciate Nissan a little more.

Cool pics! Truck looks great. I really need to detail Blue before winter really sets in.

Thanks! Yeah get a coat of sealant or two on there. Makes it much easier get the snow and ice off and easier to wash the salt off.

Hah! Makes sense. Nice looking truck, btw.

And PA certainly likes to use salt, especially here in the snow belt. I never get around to sealant/wax, even though I'd only need to do half the truck, because the bottom half is bedliner and not paint. I need to change my laziness.

I've done the two-tone bedliner trick on an old S-10, works pretty well actually. If you don't put sealant on, it's kind of pointless to do anything more than just spray it off once in awhile. I use Blackfire Wet Diamond . Really easy to put on and take off. A bottle lasts maybe 10-12 applications, and a solid coat lasts a few months or so, depending on what it has to endure. There's lots of others out there that probably work well too.

I actually thought of you when washing it since it just rolled over 20k. DO I NEED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER?!

My winter regimen for my car and friends cars will be snow foam, pressure rinse, foam with a shampoo, wash and rinse, spray on Gyeon Wetcoat (which can be diluted down for top ups), pressure rinse and dry off. About 40 minutes work at most. Though invariably I only need a citrus degreaser on the lower edges and rear bumper, pressure rinse of, shampoo, rinse and top up with Wetcoat (CarPro Hydro2 will do exactly the same).

Hmm, I hadn't heard of that stuff. Looks pretty great actually, and good reviews. I might have to get some. Thanks!

No worries. It's great all round product that can go on glass, paint, metal, wheels and plastic, spray on and pressure rinse to activate it, get three months out of each application and get four full applications out of each bottle.

Didn't realize you're in Wisconsin. My wife and I are in the process of moving from Chicago to Milwaukee by the end of the year.
Glad you like your Frontier. I had a 2010 Xterra Off Road that I loved. If it weren't for having a baby and needing more space, I would still be driving it.

Haha, yeah I figured you might have been from WI, judging from your username. I'm in Racine, and there isn't much going on here. Got my degree from UW a few years ago and not really excited by anything local. I'm looking for work out of state, possibly CA (lived there as a kid).
Good luck in MKE! It's definitely a cool, fun city.

Yeah, there isn't much going on in Racine. Milwaukee, Madison, and Lacrosse are the only two places we actually considered living. I grew up in the northwoods and have lived all over the state at one point or another. If you don't like to outdoor sports or hunting, there isn't much for you in Wisconsin.

Haha that's true. We have a lake cabin near Shawno, on the Menomonee Indian Res, so I know how great it is up there, especially in the fall.

Nice. My inlaws have a cabin in Oconto county, up the road from you. We try to get up there as often as we can.
