I will be buying some new winter tires and am in a toss up between the Nokian Hakkapeliitta r2 and the blizzak ws80. There are also hankook winter i*cept iz W606 for a bit cheaper. Has any one here used any of these?

I hear good things about the blizzacks.

but hands down the best winter tire I've ever used are Marangoni 4 ICE E+. We have a set on my dads FWD A3 TDI. Cars grips and handles better then my mom AWD IS250 on X-Ice 2's. They are loud yea, but they also last forever (this is our 5th season on them, thinking about replacing them for age if nothing else)

I highly recommend them, 10/10

We got ours from the Audi dealer (its their OEM winter tire package in canada)

See if your local one can get them.

I recall years ago having Nokia tyres when they were still Nokia.

I seem to recall a magazine saying the Michelin X-Ice beat the Hakkapelittas. And it was a Finnish magazine!

Here you go: http://www.rengasvertailu.fi/talvirengastes…

I "think" Google translate says the first rankings are for tires with studs in which case the Nokians were best. The second rankings is without studs (maybe) where the Michelins are best.

This year I bought a set of X-Ice for the Forester. I used to run Blizzaks - absolutely loved them! Better than the Dunlop Wintersports and the Michelin winter tire they had before the X-Ice. Consumer Reports also confirmed the Finnish magazine results but I figure if a Finnish magazine says the Michelins are tops, well...... that's good enough for me.

Little late to the party but I can highly recommend the Nokian hakka's. Great grip in slushy, icey, gnarly roads and the lowest rolling resistance. Blizzak's are quite decent as well. Not as good in the slushy stuff. As far as the Hankook's have had good experiences with the i-pike but the rest not sure about
