Because it looks like the PO took it off a wrecked 944 and stuck it there. It's more crooked than the dealer badge on my Safari.

I'm gonna go ahead and say it wasn't.

Well I've got pics from the original owner, and it had it before the 2nd owner bought it, and it still had it when I(3rd owner) bought it. And I've seen three other 944s with the same badge placement. It's not a coincidence. It must have been factory.
