Eric Frein, the man wanted for the sniper killing of a Pennsylvania state trooper, was apprehended yesterday by federal marshals. When the marshals handed Frein over to the PA state troopers, the troopers handuffed Frein with the slain officer's own handcuffs, and placed him in the officer's patrol car.

Justice, yes. Also perhaps unnecessary theater, but I'm sure the family liked to hear that.

Since I live in central Texas, I hadn't really noticed the police state in NE Pennsylvania.

Very true. It's just hard to strike a balance between poetic justice and ... whatever making something cartoonish in a grim sort of way instead of just grim is. Not bathos, but something akin to it. I'm torn between a polite clap and saying "Really?"

I changed the headline to "Ironic Justice". It's a message that will be lost on Frein, but it will make the families and colleagues of the victims feel good. And I'm okay with that.
