I usually abstain from car spotting posts but this is getting ridiculous.
This yellow-mouthed Aston was in my student parking garage today, and so far it's the most ridiculous car I have seen a student own.
Previously, I've encountered an SRT Viper, a Nissan GTR, and an Audi R8 Cabriolet. At my old community college some Asian kid had a Rapide. I know this because I always saw it and one day in math class someone came in and said "they're towing an aston Martin", and an Asian kid scrambled out for the back.
This is at UCSD for the record.
Who the hell buys these cars for kids who aren't even 23? What in the living fuck?

I feel your pain/pleasure/whatever. And, yes, it's always international students here, too.

University of Idaho, the local university in my town, is much the opposite, no one comes out of the country to here, hell, probably 75% of the students are in-state, and it has one of the highest percentages of students recieving pell grants, the nicest car I've ever seen on campus is some professor drives a silver 911 carrera S, and the nicest student car is a like a Roush 302, or other various mustangs.
Parking epically sucks on campus though, I plan to live at home, but there are no parking garages, just surface parking, what I may try to do during the spring is my mom has whats called a departmental parking pass on her ford escape, and there are only about 10 of them on campus, but it allows you to park in every single parking lot, and park at meters for free for up to two and a half hours. and you can't even buy them normally, she just happens to have a job that gets her this parking permit.

There's some truth to that. But not all asian or foreign students that come to American universities are rich (or have rich parents). Among the ones that are rich, not all of them spoil their children like that.

Let me tell you a story. I go to a private university in Pennsylvania that has a fairly high population of international students from China. They also tend to drive really nice cars, mostly M3s. When you think about it, it makes a decent amount of sense. If the person can afford to go internationally to a private institution (tuition has been creeping up on $60K), including all the air travel to and from home, etc., they can probably afford a nice car. Then take into account the fact that freshmen can't have cars on campus, so they only need the car for three years, which is the length of the average lease. They all seem to stick these tacky things on them too... Which I don't understand.
