I had been waiting for a good sale on this game for a while now. Picked it up yesterday for $17.99 CDN (reg. $29.99 CDN). The sale lasts until 10 AM Friday PST.
It's definitely worth the $18, but I'm glad that I didn't pay full price. The learning curve is steep , and not just because the vehicles are difficult to drive in these conditions. The game just throws you into a random map, with very little indication of what you're supposed to do or how to do it. Even the camera took me hours to figure out.
One of my few successes is shown above. That little UAZ 469 just rescued the KrAZ 255 that I high-centered on the bank while wedged between two trees.
More often, I end up stuck or rolled over. I've only delivered two small loads of lumber, and I've lost three loads because I rolled the truck over, killing the engine (and thus the PTO winch) and destroying the truck.
Yes, that is a 100% destroyed truck with a lost load, barely out of the lumber loading yard.
Anyway, if you don't mind figuring stuff out on your own via trial-and-error, you like to methodically plan every turn of your wheel, and have a lot of patience, it's actually a lot of fun!

HOW did you tip that so close to the lumber area?
also, what bugged me was how the long logs were only 6 points, but were 2x the length of med logs -.-'

I've watched youtube gamers play that game. If I wasn't broke as fuck I'd consider it, but I really really need winter tires.

I've got 30 some hours into Spintires. I find it great for keeping my attention while not requiring deep concentration.
My new trick is to set up 2 class C trucks for medium logs hook the winch cable from the back of one to the front of the other and tow the second truck to the lumber yard, load both and tow it to the dropoff point. If you set the truck to auto steer and have the winch butt accelerate the rear truck it is very hard to get the pair stuck. And if one does get stuck you can use the other to pull it out.

I have it. I find it requires just a much strategy and planning ahead as it does any sort of driving skill. I usually use the UAZ to uncover the whole map and unlock any additional vehicles, then plan out a route from the lumber yard to the dropoff and back, and then place a couple rescue vehicles along the way in case I get stuck.

That damn camera. I was fighting with it, trying to see over the logs when I hit the huge sippy hole at a weird angle. I didn't know that you could reset the camera by pressing "1", let alone move it behind the trailer with "2".

Yeah, the next map I try, I'll scout it out some more first. I've only tried "Plains" thus far, and the last area I uncovered was the northeast corner where the second garage is. I wish I knew it was there before!
So far, the only real strategy I've been doing is on-the-fly, like do I choose the low side where it's likely to be muddy, or the high side where I might tip...

It just happens, man. I don't know what it is, but you get in mud and the truck just tips more and more with every maneuver.
