It was my first time in the state.
This was also my first extended highway drive with the Versa Note. Honestly, I was quite impressed. I previously owned a 2012 Versa sedan, which got blown around a lot more by crosswinds. The Note is much more surefooted, possibly because it's shorter. The driver's seat is perfectly shaped for me (I'm 5'7, 140 lbs, athletic) so I was not fatigued at all upon arriving in Biloxi.
(That's the Gulf of Mexico right there!)
I hit a milestone just as I was arriving in the state as well...
For the entire trip, the trip computer read 43 MPG. Filled up when I got back home and my calculations peg the real world economy at around 42. Impressive, considering the car is rated at 26/35 with the 5-speed. Honestly, I never see less than 35 even when I'm stepping on it.

Hahaha, of course. I'll take the window visors, that's about it. I can't find anyone, not even Nissan, selling them for Notes in the US.

I used to live along Beach Blvd in Biloxi. It was fun, though the water is pretty bad and I never swam in it. I would go off shore via boat to the outer islands and swim. The people are the best.

A lot like Florida, but without the Publixes and seemingly a greater disparity between the rich and poor. Also, $2.65/gallon gas.

I kind of wondered why I didn't see anyone in the water along '90 lol. I wanted to take the ferry to Ship Island, but I didn't have time.

A lot of oil comes from the area which explains the gas prices and the disparity in classes. Your either an oil worker, or your higher up in the oil business. Or your Native American, and you own part of a casino.

That does explain a lot. When I get a day off or two I like to go exploring. Yesterday I went to Orange Beach with a buddy of mine, last week I went to Destin / San Destin, and a few weeks before that I went straight up into Flomaton, and then up from there to Montgomery. All very different, yet at the same time new to me, so I'm enjoying it.

Sounds fun. I loved when I lived in Alabama, when me and my friends would spend hours just exploring every little back road around. Some day's we'd end up nearly lost, but it was fun.

Yeah, when I was coming back down from Montgomery I decided eh, I'll shut off my GPS and just head south, I'll hit 90 or the Gulf eventually. Well, I got lost for a bit, and ended up driving through Troy and then Florala, which was an awesome place to take photos. Near the sign that says 'highest elevation in FL' is a big lake with some old fighter in the woods next to it, which lead to this photo.

I think the highest elevation is Laurel Hill, which is in fact a few miles from Florala. I do enjoy going through the small towns around here. Defuniak Springs is a neat little town on the other side of Crestview.
