Because little girls can be gearheads just as much as little boys can. Her pappy and grandma are getting this engine repair set for her for Christmas.

And for her birthday, this:

We're going to paint it white so it matches her pappy's truck, and she's going to be a gearhead like the rest of us. Gotta start 'em young!

Man, I wish my parents were cool enough to get me a Power Wheels when I was a kid. Now I'm stuck with grown up Power Wheels, and they are way too expensive... (Saleen because it's cooler looking)

Aww, so cute. My daughter is barely 2 1/2, but she's at that integral learning stage. I don't have room or tools at home to do my own wrenching, but when we go to my mom and stepdad's, they have a garage and lots of tools (and cars), so she can learn there. And yes, start a sub-blog, call it Oppo-spawns or something like that.

Yes, way too expensive. Though, those 12V batteries on the power wheels are not cheap themselves. I didn't have Power Wheels as a kid either, but I did have an old Cozy Coupe, and I bought my daughter a new one as well last year. Every kid should at least have a cozy coupe. We're actually teaching her car models now. At the moment, they're all just "car", but she's repeating the names of them that we tell her, so they should start sticking.

Buy it anyway and do a little "teaching kids cars" business. Charge like $10, show them how to use it, and let them have an hour or two of fun with it. Maybe even get a couple of them so more than one kid at a time can enjoy it. Or, alternatively, just buy it for yourself.

My daughter is almost 2. Loves to climb around in the car while I work on it. pushing buttons. slamming levers back and forth. Sticking screwdrivers near the paint. Running off with tools and leaving them in the backyard. Because I want her to love it, I have a lot of patients for it.

That's awesome. When we visit the 'rents, she always plays around in my mom's Miata. She'll turn the keys, or I'll press down on the clutch pedal while she plays with the shifter (with the power off and the handbrake up, of course), or she'll mess with the radio, or the HVAC. She can start an autotragic car on her own as well. She's gonna be great. Glad to hear you're patient with her though, that's very important. Make sure she understands the skinned knuckle risk when she's under the hood though! If you don't get at least three skinned knuckles, you're not doing it right, lol.

My son's kindergarden teacher was doing a fathers day art project with the kids where she asked the kids about their experiences with dad and she would write it out on craypaper animals. Written by her no a craypaper fish and brought home to me was "My dad lets me drive the Corvette and makes me put my head down when we drive by cops". So busted.

Believe me, I won't. Trucks come in handy in our family. My stepdad has two trucks, both Rams. One is a 2000 Ram 1500 single cab/long bed that he uses for basic work, and he DD's a 2012 Ram 3500 Cummins Dually with the extended cab (seats 6 with room to spare), which he also uses as a work truck. He pulls his camper with it, helps us move, and they're both 4WD, which is good, because we live in the mountains, and usually get one pretty big snowfall a year, and a lot of ice as well. My mom DDs a Durango in the wintertime, and we DD a Durango as well, year-round. 4x4 vehicles and big trucks are pretty necessary around here. There are way too many bro-trucks around though, and she won't be near any of them. Regular, non-bro-trucks, definitely. We like our big vehicles. And believe me, it will be a Mopar big vehicle for her.

This is awesome! My Dad got both me and my sister into cars growing up. My sister's car knowledge is rather impressive. She often knows more than "the boys."
