Have some pretty depressing patrol cars. I know they have better cars for motorway/ chase duty but still, you don't exactly command respect rolling around in a base model Corsa. Possibly even worse, they use one of the most popular cars for the elderly at the moment, the Hyundai I10.
They do have some Panda 4x4s though, so that's pretty cool, even if they're probably even less intimidating than the Corsa.

for everything not Traffic, it's the Mondeo and Focus that fill the fleet with Galaxy and S-Max doing the Dog Units and accident investigation in Sussex

You need to watch Police Interceptors on Channel 5.

Yeah I've seen that they have some pretty cool stuff for motorway/higher speed stuff and I occasionally see Octavia VRS in my town. I just think it's pretty amusing seeing a big tough looking police officer pulling up to somewhere in a Corsa.

I used to see mostly Astras and Focii (?) until recently they seem to have been downsizing a little, probably to save cash. They tend to use vivaro vans for dog units and stuff.

The british police have really wimpy cars.
Even Bangladesh does better, although this thing is just as slow at least its tough.

Here in London the Police used to have such a random fleet of cars ranging from 5 Series to Range Rovers to Focuses. Now it seems they have standardized with Octavias and i30s.

The day to day patrol cars are pretty crappy although we do have a few cool things. I like the Transit riot van with the shield for the windows.

The cops here all used to use a car that was more famous for being popular with the elderly as well.....

Northern Ireland's ones are bit more aggressive, just a shame that they need them

You guys give your cops audi's?
Here there was a incident last week, (someone shot an on duty soldier at point blank range) and the ghost cars that came out of the woodwork were interesting. Hyundia's mostly, panthers, and then I saw an MWRAP and decided to stay inside and skip school.

I was inclined to say that germany isn't much better off, but I guess that Passat, E-Class and 3-Series wagons are marginally superior to Corsas and i10s.

We do have 3 series and Skoda Octavias too I suppose. These smaller cars don't make up the majority but you do see them around. Astras and Focus are probably the most common.

I mostly see Passats and E-Classes, so that is that. I suppose that Superminis have some distinct advantages in cities, er.

I've driven an Astra on tight roads and my Panda on tight roads and there's very little difference. The move to superminis will be purely money related.

But what about congested city streets? It may handle the same, but since it is smaller it is easier and faster to navigate a Panda through tight gaps and shit.

In certain very specific situations possibly.

Why would police vehicle need to be intimidating? To communicate they're trying to enforce a police state? Police vehicles should be welcoming.
