Drive one and you'll know right away exactly why.

Pay a couple grand more and get one with half the miles. Understand the problems with smg (not a big issue) and vanos. Expect maintanence cost to be a few grand a year, and a tank of fuel to last less then 200 miles. Other than that the m6 is a hell of a bargain at 30 grand, it's still one hell of a car. Plus that sound...

It's a land boat with a V10, what more could you ask for?

I've always secretly loved these. They manage to keep the shark-like shape of the original e24 with some modern curviness. That s85 v10 doesn't hurt its case either.

Just know that once you drive one you'll have to have one. Gran for Gran, that should work :) I haven't driven the new v8 M5 or M6, I'm sure they're great but there's just something about the V10 cars that make you not even care that they are "pleasantly plump" Same thing with 911's I never understood why people worship them until I drove one and it all made perfect sense.

Because it sounds like a mini F1 car when uncorked

Because the M6 is the only current BMW that's actually eye-catching aside from the Z4 and i8.

Is the obscene weight, mileage, and maintenance worth being able to yell "LOL because V10!" at everyone? Because if you ignore that part of it, here's your breakdown. You get 500 hp and 8k rpm, but 4000 pounds and only 384 lbs-ft.
OR you buy a 335 + bolt-ons. You get a reliable ~420-460 hp, 450+ lbs-ft with an awesome torque curve, 3500-3700 lbs, the same room, potentially far better launch if you go AWD, newer car, lower maintenance.

I found what's wrong with it to make it so cheap. They put the wrong transmission in it.

Ahahahahaha! This gen M6 is a car I've always wanted to own or drive. It's been my dream car. I've driven more super cars than I can count yet I still haven't gotten a chance to drive this M6 :(
