I can't believe the GTO won a popularity contest!

How did they come to that conclusion? I like the latest Goat more than a lot of people, but over a ZL1/CTS-V/Raptor/GXP/SRT10/GT500/Stingray/Boss/Z28/Viper? Hell naw.

Seems to be very slanted to the LS fan boys side of things. I figure the 03 cobra would be near the top and not a 1st round loss to the CTS-V.

Wasn't it a purely "Which one is your favorite?" contest?

These are all muscle cars, and the people who like those favor Bang/$ the most.
Think about it; on the left side of the spectrum, it's faster than a SS/WS6 and has far more useable space than those two (and is far superior at being a well built car doing normal car things, lets be honest) without being a 4 door like the CTS-V, which some people don't like. It's slightly lighter than a Challenger, and it's not a truck like the SRT Ram, which again some people don't like.
On the right side, all of those options are pretty much far superior to the GTO, but they are far pricier too; the Z/28, Stingray, and Viper are in the $70k+ bracket. Everything else that isn't in the $50k bracket might as well be. The GTO isn't as good as any of them, but the margins between some of the cars (Boss, SRT8 specifically) and the goat are small enough to be within reach for those willing to mod, and there's still plenty of car here for those who want to run bone stock. It's maybe the best option for those who want a coupe without sacrificing practicality, and isn't too far away from some of the more unreachable examples of american performance. Given all that, it's not hard to see why it won.

These are people that in 2014 still use the term 'Late Model'. It's a self selecting crowd. We wore onions on our belts as that was the fashion at the time.
