According to !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
With nothing left to prove in endurance racing(for now), Audi could be looking to show the rich boys in F1, the vorsprung durch technik.
Obviously, this could be a huge chunk of bull shit, but if it's true, the website who did the story, becomes the ultimate source for automotive facts and information.

So Audi, who has been dominating Le Mans for over a decade with its technology and world class team wants to throw all of that away to enter the high stakes world of F1 where the winner is determined more by its internal politics and corruption than who has the fastest car/driver combo? Seems legit.

Well Porsche is there, now. And Porsche has priority. Audi brings around 10% of VAG's yearly profits, Porsche brings almost 25%. And they could just swallow up Red Bull, and move it to Germany.

Audi is trying to get a head of the rumor, so I'm saying it's just that. Not saying there couldn't be a chance but I would hate to put money on it.

It's called the Gentlemen's Agreement and it's the scourge of Le Mans going way back. You dominate. No one can top you. Some up and coming looks like they really have a shot to shame you on the race track and instead of duking it out, you 'retire.' If Peugeot had reallt really brought wins 2-3 years in a row, Audi would have 'wanted to spend more time with their families.'
