Trackday rules: They're There For Everyone's safety.

These guys were lucky.

YouTube Description.

On a trackday at Mid American Motorplex, a point by was given for the blue STi, Boss 302 also tried to pass without getting a point by (point by was required for this race day). It ended up ok, but this has got to be the closest two cars can come without actually making contact.

You'd think that a guy with "NASA" and "RACING" decals on the car would know better.

I guess racing stickers add .05 secs/lap.

Wow, what an idiot. Any damage suffered by the mustang is totally deserved.

Oye. It looks like they touched to me. But that could just be tire pieces I guess.

that's a huge pet peev of mine at trackdays. One Point-By per car, that's the fucking rule.

That Ford driver is 100% in the wrong here

That's the scariest part about trackdays. You never know about everybody elses skills or what risks they will take. It sounded like the Boss was already out of control before he got beside the white STI. You can hear tire squeal for a good 3 seconds before he comes into frame.

Ughhhh. I'm sure the Mustang's response was "That point-by was out long enough for two cars, so I went for it!" When no, each car gets to have a defined in/out motion for each point.

The only thing I hate worse than people stealing point-bys is when they flat out pass without even getting one. I had that happen at Road America on 5-6, when an instructor was out driving in a lower class and apparently "forgot" the passing rules for it.

I had that happen to me at Optima Ultimate street car at Pitt Race earlier this month.

I confronted the driver and he was cognizant of his disregard for safety/rules. So I made sure to drive it in more just in case for other people in the future because he has a very powerful built pickup truck.

Thankfully I'm very meticulous about mirrors and looking ahead so I saw him taking the pass without my approval. I have it on video too
