Is the Subaru WRX. AWD, 5MT or 6MT depending on year or whether or not STi, seats 5, hatch/wagon depending on the year, somewhat economical on gas, can get through pretty much any condition you can think of.
Try to deny this fact. You can't and you won't.

It has a certain.....stigma though, especially when modified. And every one after the hawkeye has been ugly.

AWD on the track isn't that great.
Even worse when your a noob. Oversteer? You'll try to fix it and you'll just spin out.
Unless you really KNOW the car, it can be quite the opposite of predictable.

I prefer the fancy man version
in b4: but audis are hard to work on
yea, because any motor work on a WRX is SOO easy (not)

I like the WRX, but I don't see myself as wearing a FOX hat backwards and drinking monster. I'd therefore follow in Peter Black's footsteps and pony up the extra cash for an S4, or at least an S3.

I've owned my 2002 WRX wagon for about 5 months now and loved every minute of ownership. Reliable, fast, and functional (wagon wft) and I can get 23mpg if I stay out of boost. Shifter feel leaves a lot to be desired even with poly bushings. The other plus is its sort of a unicorn due to the fact it has 80k miles and is stock. But not for long......

what about the legacy gt? Engines aren't hard to work on at all until you want to do heads and internals. In which case it's easier to just pull the engine

You're mostly right.
I've been trying to find an STI for ages. It's the do-everything Jalop-mobile.
You're forgetting their mudding ability though
Yes. I did that.

legacy wasnt really that quick. Audi is both faster, nicer inside, and doesnt come with the subaru stigma.
OH, and they pioneered AWD in cars. If I had to stick my ass in a AWD, itd be an Audi.

the gt? Basically a refined sti not that quick? I haven't driven one but they can be monsters. Just because you pioneer something doesn't mean that it's the best. Audis are nicer inside. Fuck stigmas. If anyone listened to hose no one here would drive a miata because chick car
bob and john

10/26/2014 at 23:35 | 1 |
oh I agree on the pioneering thing. But in this case, Audi still leads in AWD systems. barus coming in second.
And they "can" be monsters. so can the audis. Any amount of money you dump into a lecagy you can dump into an Audi and still have a quicker car.
As for stigma thing. for the most part, yes. but when it comes to insurance, they still follow stigmas. an S4 for my dad was 2/3rd the cost to insurance VS a STI. a leg spec B was 5$ a month cheaper. He ended up with an A3 tdi -.-

under dailly driving I still prefer a bit of rear ward bias. And I like that it can juggle it front and back to some extent. OFC some say its just another system to go wrong. I tell them so are your balls, but thats not something your going to remove is it?
usually shuts them up:P

I love it in the same way I love the Tribeca of that generation.
Subaru very clearly doesn't have a design team, but they gave trying to design something unique and beautiful a shot, and the results were tragic. But damn did they give it their all. And that's endearing. I wouldn't mind having one of those big girls as well as a Pignose STI.

I don't see how Subaru is known for their AWD system in their rally cars, when if you get a manual it's not their symmetrical AWD, and isn't very sophisticated. If you get an automatic you get the symmetrical AWD system they're known for. Aren't you more likely to get an STI in a manual anyway?

I'm a simple person and don't like computers. Sti actually is more techy than a wrx or other suby as you can mess with the awd bias.

MikeofLA

Real, nice leather, better brakes, nobody knows it's capability outside a few, doesn't get challenged for races at every stop light by every G35 or modded civic owner. Definitely the Adult version. Not the fancy man version, like the S4; considering it costed less... not anymore, however, the Spec B costs more than an S4 of the same vintage.
bob and john
> MikeofLA
11/03/2014 at 13:01 | 0 |
yeaaa, because the S4 didn have leather. or better brakes.
I still say its just a size up. (at least around here, legs are as bad as impreza's when it comes to kids getting their hands on them and "tuning" them) And the S6 would be the grown up version of that.
MikeofLA
> bob and john
11/03/2014 at 13:13 | 0 |
I didn't say that the S4 didn't have nice leather... getting defensive much?
If you're talking about a turbo flat 4, AWD, rally inspired, Japanese saloon, the S4 and S6 (both V8, FWD designed Euro cars) don't really relate. It's not a knock on those cars at all, they are both very fine automobiles... but they aren't quite the same. Also, the Legacy isn't much bigger than the S4.
