My on going want to have a rally car plus boredom got me thinking. Do some oppo's have experience with using Plastidip?
Can you go through car washes? How long does it typically last?
Might look good come snowfall too. & my old car just for memories sake.

Thought about that a while ago, but I was broke in college with no money to blow. Now I'm not …..
…. Good thought.

If you go to a local body shop, ask who does wheel reconditioning. The company called Keystone does it here, but there are many. Anyway, you give them your wheels, they put them on the lathe and take a few thousandths off, then repaint them any color you need, with an OE finish.

I just dipped the wheels on my brothers friend's car. Turned out great, all it takes is proper prep. It's only been 2 days so I'm not sure how it'll hold up, but I went over it with some glossifier afterwards and it looks very durable.

Not a bad thought by any means, but I like the idea of going back to stock.
Esp. since I'm planning on having the car for only about a year. Having the highest mileage Crossfire plus having white parts would not help my resale.

Any more prep than just making sure the surface is clean?

Mini had whites so you would just have to tell them to use that instead.

Ehh I think I'd just paint them if I was going that route though. I've done it before and good results.

if I had the chance to re do mine, id sand it down JUST a smidge.
also, practice a bit first. plastic dip is very easy to run /mess up. one layer at a time, spray evenly and let dry. repeat 3-4 times.
to thin and it will be a HORROR show to pull off. too thick and its just going to run and drip and look bad.

pretty much. All it does it give it a more glossy appearance. It's more of a satin than a matte afterwards, I didn't use too much so it isn't really glossy.

The mudguards on my Dad's Forte have been plastidipped white for over a year and they look perfect still. Obviously they don't rotate like wheels do, but they've been run through car washes and backed into a low curb or two.

Dipped my wheels a few months ago, holding up well so far. For the wheels, just make they are clean and cover the edges real well*. I've painted the wheels on my previous car so Dipping was pretty easy. Go really light to begin with to get a feel for it then go from there.
*If you don't get the edge of the rim covered real well you may get some peeling as I did on one wheel but it was actually really easy to patch it up and have it blend in.

the great part about plastidip VS paint is qith plastidip you just peel it off. no need to sand back./

Note: car is in Florida...plenty of rain and heat but zero snow. I'm not sure if snow/salt on the road would destroy it immediately.

It's okay. The coach for Ohio State cried the last time he played Alabama. It was precious. That was when he coached for Florida though.

Thats the one thing I'm kind of worried about. I wash my car a lot during winter (its rust free for now) and that'll probably wear it down faster. I don't think I'll want it white for too long anyways, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Ah that makes me have A LOT of thoughts. I guess limit handling is where the biggest difference is. The SC had V8 torque, a long wheelbase and skinny tires. So it was really easy to drift (except that one time I crashed). Where as the Crossfire is 800lbs lighter, has a short wheelbase with wide tires and stiff suspension.
There were a few times on drives in the SC where the back end would step out for scary moments. The Crossfire's limits are higher than what I want to do on the street, so I can trust it to do what I want. I'm more confident in it.
Not sure if thats what you wanted lol.
