Make a triflux V8. Two small turbos nested in the valley between heads. After these two small turbos spool up, start opening the exhaust valves that lead to two large turbos located on the sides of the motor. Either electromagnetic or pneumatic valves would make this motor easier.

The new V8 in the AMG GT has the turbos in the valley. They've also been using that setup on their diesel V6's for a while now, albeit with one turbo.

They are water-cooled in addition to oil cooled, right? I mean, that would be one way to keep the temperatures manageable.

The diesels just have oil cooling for the turbos, I have no idea about the new engine as they haven't started doing training on it yet. They're also building ductwork into the engine covers to provide fresh outside air from the grill area. And lots of coolers. Did I mention all of the coolers?

Hmm. Sequential turbos or staged turbos? As small as valley-mounted turbos tend to be, staged may work better. What do you want this system to do?
