"Logansteno: Bought a VW?" (logansteno)

It was a brand new 2014 Impala and an early 2000s Impala riding right next to each other on the highway. I tried to get a picture, but one sped up and changed lanes in front of the other. I was so disappointed.
The difference 10 years has made to the Impala though is staggering .
Flip the colors on the two above and you've got what I saw.

The new Impala looks better than the SS. *puts on flame proof suit*

I don't think many are going to disagree. The Impala is beautiful. The SS can be mistaken for a Malibu.

Impala's only problem is FWD with RWD looks. Give the Impala RWD, call the performance version SS, and we're golden.

The new Impala looks worlds better than the past couple generations. The 2000-2005 generation (like what you posted) WAS my favorite "modern" Impala, but the new ones look so much better. Much better than the rental fleet queens/cop cars/taxis of the previous gen.

The Imapala definitely looks the meanest/has the most charisma and persona. Malibu next. Then SS. Then Cruze, just for kicks.

I don't see the Impala going back to RWD any time soon.
I've noticed a lot of FWD cars with RWD proportions lately. The most guilty being the Mazda6.
That screams "RWD"

No, you're right. It's easily the best looking sedan Chevy makes now, and the best Impala they've sold since 1996.
It sounds like damning with faint praise, but it really is a gorgeous car.

I mean, if we ignore the Impala's amazing styling (saw a blue LTZ at the local BK cruise in today...stunning), they already have the car in the SS. Stuff different engines into it for different trim levels and done is done. New, RWD Impala.

The last generation was seriously everything that was wrong with GM in one car.
Bland styling, meh engines (until they finally added the 3.6 late in its life), plastic interior...

It Hertz to look at the old one, if you get my drift. Although the new one is no National champion of Economy, especially if you are on a Budget. The new one is A_VISual improvement over the old, but I doubt it will become an icon like the Alamo.

I have no idea what in particular, but when I look at that I think RWD sports sedan.

So much effort to make a rental car joke!

I agree. I've been in more than a few of those. Those, and the mid-2000 Malibus (2003-2007?) were just totally boring. Then, the new Malibu came out for 2008, and I'm sorry, but that design was ugly. Chevy touted it as "the car you can't ignore", but man did I want to. It wasn't boring, but I didn't care for it in the least. The current gen has somewhat improved, but I still think it's the worst looking Chevy out of the bunch.

Take the suit off, you're right.
