Finally, months after crazed clay robust mongoloid !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! on how to get this part, I was able to find time to make my way down to Kenney-U-Pull for some heat control modules.
You did not visit the junkyard in vain friend, I have (finally) managed to obtain some parts.
To get these parts as crazed mentioned first you have to get the dash off then you have to take the plastic bezel off then you have to take out the control module. It took me about two and a half hours to do two vehicles. One car already had a lot of work done as someone had gone for the radio so the dash was already off.
The 2nd module I got, I got from a Cavalier so rusty that everytime you slammed the door more pieces fell off. It was also gross inside, but whatever. I am glad I did that though because it ran me through the whole process start to finish. (well sort of, I never put it back together).
Here is a short video of my haul!!!
My stupid habit of cutting wiring before I know what I am properly doing showed up again. Ugh.

Ugh. I used to install car stereos for Future Shop in the '00s. Cavalier dashes were one of the biggest pains-in-the-ass to get access to the stereo (and the HVAC controls). The strangest thing is that their twin, the Sunfire, had one of the easiest stereos to get to. Open the glovebox, remove 2 phillips screws, boom.

Hahaha yup. The cavalier dash has 2 screws on the drivers side, three in the middle and like 10 on the passenger side. Why you have secure it so much more on the passenger side isn't clear.
The stupid bezel is a real pain though, with the wired in cigarette lighter and dash dimmer.
Not looking forward to that part. Ugh.

Very interesting and good to know. My wife has a 2000 Cavalier, and the CD deck in it is scratching disks. I've got a spare deck kicking around, and was thinking about throwing it in. Now... now I'm going to have to debate doing that.

It's crazy. Not impossible, but crazy nonetheless.

We took out and replaced my friends radio in his 03. Good god was that miserable. Took like 6 hours too. Start early.
